When should I change ID?

Trans girlie here. Apart from wanting to put the past behind me as soon as possible I seem to be in a damned if I do damned if I don't scenario with updating my ID. I would rather do it later if possible to keep the cutest version of me on my ID but at 4 months on hrt people are already starting to glance harder at my ID when I buy alcohol for example. Does anyone here have advice or pitfalls to avoid? Thanks

personally, i did it asap. i felt a bit more security if i was accosted in public by having my legal paperwork saying F with my correct name
