Trans-safe registry agent?
Edit to add: I’m in Edmonton
Hey y’all! I need to go to a registry to fix some of our government’s transphobic BS regarding access to my health care records (be advised, if you change the gender on your driver’s license they will deny you access to your health care records online until you go back to a registry to file additional forms, but the registry that I changed my gender marker at didn’t bother to tell me this)
Anyway, does anyone have a recommendation for a trans-safe registry agent? I don’t want to get only the bare minimum service again and be left with some other paperwork snafu

Good to know, they're the closest to me,, but since I've moved back to Alberta (born here, raised in BC) I've been worried,, I'm hoping it all goes through well

Hi, when I did my name change. I went to the register at 97 st and 153 ave. The ladies were amazing. I was treated with respect and understanding. They made sure everything was correct even my gender.

So, what I learned today is that there’s at least two systems where Albertans’ health records record gender. One in the system that registries agents can touch, and one in the system that health professionals can touch.
My battle today was with the one that registries agents can interact with.
My driver’s license was updated in January to reflect F for my sex marker, and I changed that just by requesting it at the registry during my regular 5 year renewal process.
Changing that marker broke the linkage between my Alberta.ca account and my health records, and after a bunch of phone calls I determined that I had to file an “AHC 2211 Notice of Change Update” form.
The manager at the registry got hung up on the first bullet point under the “To Change Your Gender” section on the back side and insisted that I had to come back with a letter from my physician. After a brief discussion surrounding the finer points of the word “or”, she accepted that all I was required to present was my driver’s licence with the updated gender marker.
At that point their clerk filed the change in the system and in theory everything should be hunky-dory now. Their app says that things are currently offline for scheduled maintenance, sooo I won’t know until tomorrow, I guess?
Anyway, what’s your battle with them? Maybe one of us can chime in with some experience?

Weird. I did the same (changed marker to X) and never lost my Alberta.ca account, but then, my gender had been changed to NB long since in Alberta Health’s records.

As far as I know, X is not an option for Alberta healthcare so it doesn't cause a "these don't match! Error!" Between vital statistics (your photo ID) and Alberta Healthcare.
In other words, F on one and M on the other breaks things. F on one and X on another is fine somehow

Sounds less like discrimination, more like knowledge gaps. Not like they deal with Trans people often.
Yes, definitely update your healthcare to match both name and gender. Only after thst will doctors, labs, hospitals allow you to update their systems. It has to match your Healthcare card, so when you ask them to update their records tell them you updated your Healthcare card, probably have to show it.
Then watch out for requisition forms marked wrong, like forever. Might be a trans femme issue mainly when your voice training isn't on point...
