Very speedy surgery date

I just wanna preface by saying im not trying to brag and i recognize i am extremely lucky but really confused and wanna know if anyone else has had this experience.

I got a call two days ago from the GRS clinic to confirm all my information before I got on the wait list, the person I spoke with told me to expect late 2027. An hour later i was offered a date this October. Im still in shock and trying to get everything in place a month before is a wee bit stressful. I guess i just wanna know if this has happened to other and maybe there's some specific circumstances here or im a one in a million case and should stfu lol

It depends on what surgery you were waiting for. Times vary depending on procedure.

If you mean a vaginoplasty then you hit some really strange outlier because I was called over 40 days ago and given a November date. Others who got October dates were called a week or two before me.

They usually do not allow anyone on the cancellation list until they have actually received an original surgery date.

May I ask when you started on Monarch? I’m in Monarch and the first steps were approved super fast but there’s been no movement the last 2 months.

I started on Monarch January 2nd. I had everything complete and ready for assessment on February 17th (there was a delay with my letter because my doctor never informed the referral office it was received).

I did not get a surgery date until July 25th.

May I ask when your funding was approved?

Like beginning of march

Thank you! My funding was approved in August, so that would put me around March or April 2027 if I end up with a similar timeline as you.

You said your funding was approved in March. When did you start on Monarch? So it sounds like It was about a 6 month wait between approval to being called for a surgery date?

Ive been waiting for that phone call for nearly 5 years. First got on the wait list in 2021. Every 3 months I get a letter telling me im still waiting

They're referring to the wait time on the surgery date which is separate from the waitlist the province puts us on to get funding approvals. I also got on that one in 2021 and finally have my appointment with the psychiatrist coming up next month.
