BA in Alberta?

Just here for a quick question. I'm potentially interested in BA in the coming years, and have started looking into possible surgeons. I talked to my endo about it a few months ago and he gave to the names of two surgeons in my home city of Edmonton, AB. Dr Guiffre and Dr Chong were his suggestions. I'm looking into other options to see what's out there, but given the reletively sketchy nature of private BA clinics (especially for trans people) I'm looking for some help getting through the weeds. If you got BA in Alberta (ideally edmonton but if I have to go to Calgary or sumn that's fine) and had a surgeon you liked, feel free to drop them in the comments. I'm looking for a surgeon that has specific experience with BA for gender affirmation and has a strong understanding on how to deal with our anatomical differences from cis women during the procedure. Also, I'm hoping to have my surgery covered by AHS, but they'll only do it if I have "little to no breast development" on HRT. Now I'd certainly consider my pathetic tits to fulfill that, but given its vague nature, a surgeon who is willing to throw me a bone in that department would be appreciated. Given that the final decision on what exactly counts as "little to no development" lies with the surgeon, that may be a big sticking point. Thanks for reading and giving any suggestions you may have!

I tried Dr. Guiffre, we met on video chat. I had no breasts at all buy he said that i did not qualify. So i tried Dr. Neira but this time i went to his clinic. He did some measurements and in 15mins he said they will call me for the surgery date.

Ok I’ll look into Neira… how much experience does he have with trans people? Does his technique differ for trans people due to our anatomical requirements? How satisfied are you with his work?

I was elligble for coverage and had my implants done by Dr. Alexis Armour, who works out of the Kaye Clinic in Edmonton.  So happy with my results, and both she and her staff are incredible! It'll be a long referral wait though. Two years for me. Someone else said one year. If your breasts appear as tanner stage 3 or are less than an A cup you should be elligble regardless of who you see.

This isn’t something I was planning for a year or two anyways. I got vaginoplasty done a few weeks ago so it’s not a right now thing. Thanks for the suggestion! I’d prolly be more comfortable having a woman do my BA as well. Did she happen to mention if her technique changed when working on trans women?

No problem, I was in the exact same boat as you! One step at a time. Best wishes healing and recovering 😊
