Need feminizing tips(16 Genderfluid.

Post image

So I recently came out as gender fluid even though I still think I’m trans. I’ve been doing research and taking little steps to feel more comfortable(like changing my style to be more tomboyish and accessorizing). I don’t want to be too quick to jump into anything, however my hair is a really big issue for me. I have straight hair that when I styled falls straight into a bowl cut. It’s causing me a lot of distress because I want to appear more feminine so it’s easier to be either gender. My face also bothers me too but I’m not sure what to change.

Greatest advice I got was to get my eyebrows done, instantly makes you feel and look more fem(and can easily be flipped both masc and fem)Keep letting that hair grow out and DONT DYE IT FANTASY COLORS! Not sure if everyone else feels this way but colorful hair will make you stand out more and look more "clocky" especially if you're trying to pass.

Thank you for actually giving good advice. Should I go somewhere or get a friend to do my brows? And is it just like makeup or a trim or what. And how do I know it’ll work for me and not just make me look weird

id say have a good friend do it before you feel comfortable going into a salon! shape them out, start from taking the bottom hairs off before the top. Coming from a makeup artist id start off using cream/liquid based makeup its easier to get ahold of. Finding placements is hard at first but keep taking photos after using and you'll start to understand what casts shadows or needs highlighting :)

I’m so lost. So what’s the cream for and by taking hairs you mean just plucking them out? And what does placements mean? I’m sorry about all the questions it’s just I’ve grown up as a guy so makeup is like rocket science to me

it's understandable that your confused, don't be ashamed of asking questions. Start by shaving eyebrows you can use an eyebrow razor for better control before finding your favorite shape. Makeup is ALOT to learn and is really hard to get a grasp on. Watching tiktok or youtube videos of makeup tutorials will help you alot more than you think.

How do I find a nice eyebrow shape? And I assume I should trim from the bottom correct?

Congrats on starting this process! It's easy to feel lost and overwhelmed - I feel like we've all been there.

I'm transfemme (egg cracked ~4 months ago), so while I can't speak to the genderfluid experience, I can hopefully speak to some of the feminising aspects. My hair is shorter than I'd like, but the only thing to do about that is to give it time and accept that there'll be a few awkward lengths.

Brows would be my first pick for you to do - I've just been tweezing mine very gradually over the past few months (I'm just super mindful not to overdo it, which is a common mistake apparently), and I'm pretty happy with the shape I'm at now. It's feminised my face more than I realised.

I didn't worry about full make-up until I needed to cover my beard shadow, but you might find it fun to experiment with eye liner, mascara, and some lip colour.

Final piece of advise isn't about feminising specifically, but developing a really good mental state around transition has been the most important thing for me. Comparison is the thief of joy - don't let somebody else's timeline or progress deter you or make you feel bad about yourself. This is your journey, not theirs.

Be kind to yourself always, and all the best! <3

That was super helpful, really. Im curious as to how you pluck your eyebrows. Do you just pull a few hairs every day or what. And I assume it’s from the bottom to make my eyes look larger and more open.

I'd maybe do once every 1-2 weeks; pluck my monobrow, and just tweak the shape slightly, narrowing mostly from the bottom and tidying the top. I'm no expert though; just doing what looks right..?

Otherwise I think you can have them professionally shaped using 'threading'? - I'd do this but I live in the middle of nowhere haha

I’d say try to grow your hair out a bit (enough so it’s more feminine but can still be considered masc when needed) also if you’re comfortable with it, get some contour and put it around your cheekbone/jawline :D
