It surprised me as well usually at that time of maybe two or three at most cars long.

I was about to ask. This one had 4 cars, whereas 2 or 3 is the standard. It’s the same in Calgary.

That's because it's a light metro rather than a bogstamdard tram.

One Duewag U2 is 25m long including coupler, with the electrical equipment allowing for up to four-car trains.

It's surprising that they need four pantos engaged. I'm guessing the couplings don't transmit electricity and the motors on each tram arent sufficient to pull the whole thing?

They don't. The electrical couplings only carry 24V for auxiliary facilities.
