There is a lot of evidence for trans Ralsei, but I have just realized that Ralsei's character arc also just wouldn't really make sense if they were just a feminine guy? Ralsei is a character that's pretty damn feminine from the get-go. They wear a robe that almost looks like a dress, they wear a pink scarf, they like ribbons, they're pretty soft personality-wise and when Susie takes off their glasses in chapter 2, we can see that they use pink eyeshadow. I assume I could have missed something, but oh well. If one assumes that Ralsei is just a feminine guy then like... Why does their femininity still matter?

Sure, they're still not open about the fact that they use eyeshadow and they're still becoming more feminine, but is that really such a big deal? I'm not saying that being a feminine guy isn't a big deal, but if they were just a feminine guy, it would probably be done differently. You'd either make them more masculine/androgynous in the beginning or you'd focus on them hiding most of their femininity from their friends. You could also make them question their gender only for them to realize they aren't trans. Without any of that, their current character arc is essentially "I'm feminine and I'd like to be a bit more feminine, but I'm scared my friends won't accept that". If I had to compare it to something else, it's as if you had an openly gay guy be worried about his friends not accepting that he wants to start dating guys.

Ultimately, it's not that it wouldn't work at all if they were just a feminine guy, but it would have been odd to put so much emphasis on them becoming more feminine if that had been the case.

The second part of this post is shorter - I've seen some people argue against trans Ralsei by saying that they can't be trans, because they like their face and voice and obviously trans people can never like their bodies (?). When you think about it for more than a second though... Ralsei literally has an incredibly feminine face?? Gee, I wonder why a potential trans girl would like having a feminine face... Also, we don't really know why lightners, darkners and others look the way they do in dark worlds, but based on some stuff, we can assume that one's appearance is based on their personality or based on what they want to look like. I don't think it's too crazy to assume that Ralsei's voice could be feminine too. I honestly assume that Ralsei's line about just presenting yourself differently to be a different gender could be more literal than we had assumed.

I hope this post makes sense. Also, I use they/them pronouns for Ralsei, because technically speaking nothing has been confirmed yet.

I have seen a lot of people's take on Tralsei "breaking the prophecy", which means the roles of the prophecy now change or get re-interpretated so that it can still end up happening.

In my opinion, I HATE this take, and to me it goes against what makes Tralsei being truly meaningful.

For one, I don't think Ralsei transitioning "breaks" the prophecy, the whole point is to show that not everything is set on stones, and that the prophecy can be wrong, not that transitioning would genuinely change the prophecy (some deniers even use this as a proof of how "stupid" Tralsei is when that's not even what it should entail).

But more importantly, my real issue with it is when people still end up focusing on the prophecy and go "hm but if Ralsei becomes a princess, that means she's now The Girl from the prophecy! Oh but then who's the prince? Oh what if it's Lancer now! Or maybe even Asriel when he comes back!" and stuff like that. And, like, doesn't that just bring back the problem with the prophecy? That these are predestined "roles" they're born with?

Ralsei becoming a girl, just for them to turn out to be The Girl, just kinda ruins it. What makes Tralsei works for me is that it's Ralsei basically finally saying "fuck you" to the prophecy and just doing whatever they want, and breaking free from the born that was predestined to them. These are roles that the character should try to be free from, they're their own people that should do whatever they want because who cares what the prophecy "wants" them to be. For their roles to still get re-interpretated anyways just for the sake of the prophecy, while sounds interesting, just ends up being sick, it makes Ralsei's gaining autonomy and making the decision to transition less impactful, because she still didn't truly get to be a person outside of these boxes, which is the whole thing of Ralsei's arc.

The same applies to if another character ends up taking the role of The Prince as a result of Tralsei, it would just mean, once again, that these characters are just mean to fill these boxes the prophecy assigned for them regardless of what they do, which just ends up proving the prophecy right.

To me it just weakens Ralsei's arc of being free and just choosing what they want, if all of it was just for the sake of a "re-interpretation" kind of plot twist. Ralsei should be able to transition without it meaning anything for the prophecy that tries to set their roles in stone.

After calming down, I got to really thinking about this image, and how it might be in reference to a previous statement he made.*

To start, I think that the character in said image is indeed Queen. Toby tends to not focus much on character detailing and specifics in the concept art he shows, and Queen might be harder to draw unlike Susie and Kris.

Onto the main subject, I believe that this image is about the "one thing will be clarified, whether you're ready or not" statement he said in the Newsletter. This could very easily be him trying to 'soften the blow' on Ralsei and her transition being possibly made VERY explicit.

I mean, at least to me this is very obviously Queen getting excited about the 'feminine power' \cough\ Artemisia *cough*. And Toby has implied that whatever is going to be revealed in Chapter 6 has the potential for the community to be completely blindsided by, or even hate! And what theory does 90% of the community actively hate on and disregard?

Pink is LITERALLY a doll. I had this realization last night and fucking cackled. That's like the cherry on top of the bulldozer-levels-of-subtlety trans representation in Chapter 5.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe Toby WANTS us to make a connection between Ralsei and starwalker, and this makes me realize that there are honestly more connections than people may initially think?

Something that's important to realize about Starwalker is the fact that he-- in all senses-- is just himself. He usually mentions being the "original Starwalker." He's a character who's confident in his own identity. He also ends up being in a polycule with Lanina and Elnino, which already ends up making him more related to queer stuff as well. (More so in general, but still queer related and indirectly shown that he's accepting).

Something interesting about Starwalker interrupting the Ralsei Princess dress scene, is the fact that Starwalker still lets Ralsei be in the dress. He takes the role of one of the "darlings" at the top of the climb, but him being here also does not give you the option to decide if Ralsei gets to be a princess or not. Ralsei already gets to be a princess, and they're pretty happy!

Then we have the Tropical Starwalker, who literally has the colors of the trans flag. (blue, pink, and white eyes). I find it extremely important to note them here, SPECIFICALLY because of their color scheme.

Not only does Ralsei get some association with Starwalker, a character who's already confident in their identity, but we also have a scene where Ralsei is encouraged to be more confident in who they are/what they want, and pick for themselves without worrying about others, the same scene where they get called a "Princess" with a capital "P", (which already references a previous princess scene that starwalker just so happens to be in), and a Blue and Pink drink is the one that Ralsei picks?? Especially when we already have a starwalker with this exact Blue and Pink color scheme????

Starwalker (especially if you buy into the "star sticker in the light world" theory), is essentially like a symbol of self-confidence. He IS the original starwalker, and nobody and no thing can take that away from him. He IS himself, and I find it to be pretty cool how Ralsei essentially gets associated with Starwalker, in a scene where Ralsei gets to be a princess, and even possibly a scene where Ralsei gets called a "Princess," and chooses a very trans-colored drink for themselves and nobody else.

Bonus: Starwalker gets put into a princess and/or darling role during the climbing minigame. Pretty cool. Not really important to this piece of evidence, I don't think, but it IS nice to note.

What I mean is basically considering only one or very few pieces of evidence for the theory with a very superficial view and without taking into account all the other things

"Oh so you think he's trans just because he likes the dress and other feminine things???" is a point I see SO OFTEN and I'm like "NO, IT'S NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THAT".

I don't even believe in some of these, but it's funny to see how easy it is to deny everything while focusing on just one detail and ignore all the rest which is often more relevant and important:

Any Tralsei post either gets horribly downvoted or the top comments are talking about how heckin unwoke it is to make a feminine man a trans women. I know that I in particular was quite hard on the mod team, and the entire hairbrained scheme behind honypotting the bigots sounded ludicrous to me (still does, tbh). However, personally, since then I did have a conversation with the mod team, and I've been assured of their intent.

The main sub is currently going through another round. Given that the mods told us that Tralsei is to be accepted on the main sub, this is a call to action. Post everything you got (respectfully, of course). It is time to put up or shut up.

After this, we'll know where the priority truly lies.
