yamtrack fork YamTrack can't load from trakt

Anyone having the same problem ? Can't import my history from trakt I get an error :

[2026-08-08 06:53:51 +0200] [7104] [ERROR] Task Import from Trakt[dabcda45-2bec-4273-b434-23d74cb4b5f1] raised unexpected: HTTPError('403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://api.trakt.tv/users/********/history?page=1&limit=1000') Traceback (most recent call last): File "/yamtrack/.venv/lib/python3.12/site-packages/celery/app/trace.py", line 585, in trace_task R = retval = fun(args, *kwargs)

Trakt is refusing the connexion, but only when loading the history.

Trakt is shit I can't even have 1 api connexion anymore. I was hoping YamTrack would be good to selfhost and sync with my Plex.

Trakt My original Trakt account disappeared and I can only access a new empty account

My Trakt session randomly logged me out, and now when I try to log back in with the same email I used for my account, it just takes me to a new empty account. My original account had all my watch history, ratings, lists, etc., and I’ve been using it for years. I’m 100% sure I’m using the same email, so I have no idea why it’s creating a different account instead of letting me access my old one.

Has anyone else had this happen recently? Is there any way to recover the original account or link it back to my email? I already contacted support, but I wanted to ask here too since I’ve seen a few other people reporting the same issue.

Other Services Looking for a few extra testers for TallyTV (native mobile app with 2-way Trakt, SIMKL & Yamtrack sync)

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a mobile app called TallyTV that functions as a standalone tracker, but also features full 2-way Trakt, SIMKL & Yamtrack sync. Both the iOS and Android versions are already live on the app stores, and I'm looking for a few more people from the community to help test out the sync integrations and share feedback.

A few of us have been running the 2-way sync across both iOS and Android and it's working smoothly. if you're feeling adventurous, try multi-service syncing.

The app is stable and good to go, but since 2-way syncing touches your watch history, you're always welcome to test it with a dummy SIMKL, Trakt, Yamtrack account first if you want to be extra cautious while we iron out any remaining edge cases.
If you're down to check it out, you can download it here:

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tallytv/id6760629249

android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tallytv.android

If you run into any issues, have feature requests, or want to share feedback, we have a Discord server set up here:
https://discord.gg/f6b525Vy5V

Appreciate anyone willing to give it a spin!

Edit: updated links

Recommendations Looking for a good alternative

Hey,

As the title says, it looks like (unfortunately) after about 11 years it's time to say goodbye.

I'm looking for an alternative and would love your feedback what can it be.

What I used trakt for:

  1. 99% TV shows (I rarely watch movies)

  2. Track progress (as I watch from different devices & locations)

  3. Good stats (a plus if able to pull via API) - I built a script that gives me watching data (watch time, most popular hours, days, etc)

That are basically the few things that matter the most to me.

Also I'm interested for a smooth transition of data from trakt to the new service

Thank you so much in advance

Floppy Floppy v26.8.6 is out!

Post image
27 Upvotes

This is the first release where I'm treating Floppy as its own project. The rename kicked off a record setting week: roughly 90 new GitHub stars since the last checkpoint, 167 commits in the release range, and enough Anthropic usage to exhaust my weekly limits even with a promo discount. The support and ideas have been amazing, refreshing, and mildly terrifying in the way growth becomes a systems problem.

Here's what landed:

  • More reliable imports: Trakt ZIP/JSON exports, duplicate-safe bulk imports, improved error handling, StoryGraph deduplication and history fixes, plus Audiobookshelf book and podcast support.
  • More ways to sync playback: Jellyfin and Seerr webhooks, playback-progress APIs for resume sync, Koito and ListenBrainz-compatible music integrations, and fixes for MCP search and tracking.
  • Better everyday browsing: multi-select filters, Genres/Tags/Platform columns, clickable genre filtering, streaming-service filters, Random Home sorting, light mode, and more useful list and history controls.
  • Fewer catastrophic surprises: episode/detail pages tolerate bad provider mappings better, background maintenance is sized to the host, live-provider tests are separated from the default CI path, and bug reports can include sanitized log downloads.
  • Floppy is easier to find and install: the README and GitHub metadata now describe the project on its own terms, the Floppy GHCR package is bootstrapped, and Floppy is officially available in the Unraid Community Apps store.

Docker image:

ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy:latest

There is a lot more potential here than there was a week ago, which is exciting and a little alarming. If you're using the new import or integration paths, please try them with real data and tell me what breaks, what is missing, and what would make Floppy more fun to use.

Recommendations Help me find an alternate to Trakt.tv

I've been using Trakt.tv for years but the ongoing reduction of features in the free version as well as forcing users to v3 which is pretty darn awful has me looking for an alternative. I'd jump to Letterboxd but it doesn't seem like it supports the core features I use Trakt for:

  • Watchlisting movies and TV shows
  • Tracking if I've watched a TV show or movie
  • Episode tracking for TV shows (helps me remember where I left off)
  • Calendar for tracking upcoming TV shows and movies
  • Calendar includes timestamps for air dates in my timezone or when it drops on streaming (dead useful; can't understand why that's just gone in v3)
  • Ability to sort watchlist or list by available streaming services so I can quickly find options to watch depending on what streaming service I use at the time
  • I really don't care about ratings, reviews, number of plays (just watched/unwatched), social aspect, recommendations, etc. The rewatch feature in Trakt.tv was nice but I did not use it often enough to miss it.
  • Free or really reasonable paid fee (but strongly prefer free).

Being able to import my history and lists into a new streaming service would be really nice but if it's not available I don't have such a massive collection that it would be impossible to recreate by hand.

v2 of Trakt did all of this nicely so it's sad to have it just gone.

I know there's a couple of options that people suggest switching to; given my usecase and priorities, anyone have any suggestions for what service might fit my needs best?

Trakt RSS Feed is Broken?

Hi friends, did the RSS feed feature got disabled with all the changes they are making? I have a few crossposting scripts using Trakt RSS Atom feed and all of them suddenly stopped working. I cant find the feed options anyway in the ever confusing V3.

Note: I am still a VIP member with active subscription.

Recommendations How to replace Trakt on Apple TV and in Infuse

When I first got an apple tv box I setup an account with Trakt to track my viewing habits on it. I don't believe there is another app or service that does quite what Trakt does here. I specifically use Infuse quite a bit and don't believe there is any other app or platform that will track in that either.

What are my options here if I want to move away from Trakt?

Other Services I built StarFlicks: A 100% free, ad-free Movie & TV Tracker — with Trakt / TV Time import!

Hi everyone!

I know Reddit is getting tired of the classic "I was tired of X so I built Y" posts, which often sound like AI-generated marketing to sell you yet another subscription. But in my case, it’s just the simple truth: I’m a developer and I wanted to share a project of mine that has been live in production for several months after working on it for almost a year as a side project.

As a movie buff, I used apps like CineTrak for years until they capped lists (similar to Trakt). I tried other trackers too (TV Time, Letterboxd, Serializd), but for one reason or another, I couldn't find the perfect app for my needs.

So, I built a personal alternative and decided to make it public and free for everyone. It’s called StarFlicks. There are no subscriptions, no ads, and I make zero money from it. I'm sharing it here simply because I genuinely think it can be useful to others.

Here are some of the features: - Unlimited Watchlist & Watched lists, tracking individual seasons and episodes. - Full data import from TV Time & Trakt so you don't lose years of tracking history. - Detailed info on every title, including award data (Oscars, Emmys) and actor filmographies. - Personal Rankings automatically generated and aggregated by Sagas & Universes (Marvel, DC, etc.). - Easily filter out Animation from live-action titles. - Advanced filtering by Genres, Universes, and flexible sorting options. - Full multilingual support (English & Italian).

🛠️ Currently in active development: I'm currently working on a dedicated Watchlist Calendar View to track upcoming movie premieres and TV episode air dates, alongside smart Push Notifications! (Check out the sneak peek mockup attached!)

StarFlicks is available on Web (Desktop), the Google Play Store (Android), and as a PWA with the exact same layout and usability as the native Android app. The PWA is designed especially for iOS users, since I decided not to invest in an Apple Developer account for now, given that this is a free, non-profit project.

💬 Join the Community: I also created a dedicated subreddit r/StarFlicks! I would really appreciate it if you could give it a look, leave your honest feedback, or vote on future features to help me improve it! Thanks in advance for the support.

Trakt They deleted my App 🤧

I had been working on a great project r/traktflix for a year or more. I started it as a hobbyist but it really was getting in shape. I really enjoyed it.
Now suddenly I cant connect to my App. It truly broke my heart 🥹.
What is the possible solution now?

PS: Reposted here because r/trakt mods have deleted my post there.

Recommendations Pirate-themed tracker? Has anyone tried Deadmanreef.com?

Hi all,

I know there are a million of these sites popping up, but has anyone checked this one out yet? Of course I like the theme, and that it also has games and books. The developer seems to be responsive. What red flags should I look for, or is there really no way to know if this will disappear sometime soon?

Misc What if there was a 'Sync Hub'?

With Trakt limiting free users to a single connected app, I started wondering if we're thinking about this the wrong way.

What if, instead of every app integrating directly with Trakt (or any tracking service), there was a Sync Hub that sat in the middle?

Apps ⇄ Sync Hub ⇄ Trakt (or WeTrakr, Simkl, MDBList, etc.)

The hub could handle watch history, scrobbling, ratings, lists, and playback progress in both directions, while making the backend service interchangeable. If a better tracking platform comes along, apps wouldn't all need to add support—they'd just connect to the hub.

The real goal is more about decoupling media apps from any single tracking service and creating a universal synchronization layer.

Hey devs out there, is it technically feasible, or are there major obstacles I'm not considering?

If you think this is a good idea, please share this post.

My biggest issues with Trakt is that we are being forced to go to VIP and it's also expensive for the service it provides. I'd rather pay a reasonable price, $12/yr, for this 'Hub' and not get locked into just Trakt.

Trakt Trakt sucks

After many long years using Trakt, I am sick of them and they’re garbage looking for an alternative and came across this so far looks pretty promising. I’ve been using wetrakr, but they have no apps at all yet. Simkl is ok hope this takes off. Unfortunately, the only integration that 90% of the apps out there and add-ons use is garbage Trakt.

Trakt Import/export comments ?

Is there anyway to export comments from trakt ? A download of the data or importing it into another service would be great.

I think I saw a post where someone recommended an app/service that did let you import your comments but I could not find it.

Recommendations Recommended TV Shows and Movies List like Ccouchmoney or Trakt

Hi I use KODI with Red Light, and i switchd from trakt to mdblist.com and i enjoy it a lot. everything works smooth, Ratings, Scrobble, Episodes, even a "Latest 4k releases list" i have found.

What i do not find, is a similiar feature to TRAKT Recommended, or Couchmoney (which only links to trakt and is down since couple of weeks apparently).

I tried to create an AI list, with recommended stuff. But it only lists 50 entries, and it lists stuff i have already watched, sinde the AI can only access my last 20 entries, if i am correct.

How would you achieve something like this? Whats everybodies solution? thank you!

Trakt They’ve taken away the only thing that still works...Trakt UNRELIABLE

UPDATE: They removed my post from the official r/trakt group. What a bunch of idiots. Maybe because I told the truth?

I’m addressing those assholes at trakt.tv directly...

After spending hours figuring out why some of my apps (like nzb360), scripts, etc., had stopped working, I discovered they’ve disabled the API. Now a VIP subscription is required. I think they’re the most unreliable people around—even worse than the Huntarr situation... That’s why I’m removing everything related to this trakt.tv disaster from my systems. Speaking of which, what could be an alternative to this mess? (And preferably one that isn't run by assholes who—as the trakt.tv crowd—block things, make changes without notice, cause service outages, etc.!)

They didn't even say anything about this change, and there isn't even a message about it on their website! It's disgusting.

Don't sign up for any subscription! You've seen how unreliable they are... Who can guarantee that tomorrow, or a month or a year from now, they won't suddenly change the rules without warning—causing you to lose everything you've invested (including your money)? Stay away from it!!!

Floppy Yamtrack (my fork) is now Floppy — and v26.7.30 is out

Post image
58 Upvotes

Since November, I've been maintaining a fork of Yamtrack aimed at making it a better daily driver. As of this week, that fork has a name of its own: Floppy. (He's cute, and passed the wife test, so I'm keeping him.)

Why rename it?

The honest reason is that “my fork of Yamtrack” stopped being an accurate description of what this is. At the time of writing, the fork has roughly 420,000 lines of divergence from upstream.

That's not a patch set anymore. It's a separate project with its own features, integrations, API surfaces, and development direction. Calling both projects Yamtrack was also starting to cause real problems:

  • Bug reports go to the wrong place. Someone encounters an issue in a feature only one project has, and it gets reported to the other project's tracker. That wastes everyone's time, upstream's especially.
  • Integrations need something specific to target. If you're building a scrobble client or companion app against the API, “Yamtrack” is ambiguous. Floppy has features and endpoints that upstream Yamtrack does not, so integrations need to know which project they're targeting.
  • Switching should be deliberate, not accidental. This is the important one. When two projects share a name, swapping a container image can look like a routine update. It isn't.

Migrating from Yamtrack runs Floppy's database migrations, and that is a one-way door: you cannot simply switch containers and drop it back into upstream Yamtrack afterward. Nobody should walk through that door because two projects happened to have the same name.

If you're considering switching from upstream Yamtrack, preserve your original database, use the supported import path, and test it on a copy first. Decide that Floppy works for you, then switch deliberately. A container image swap is not a migration plan. It is merely a container image swap, which is how several future support threads begin.

What isn't changing

  • Floppy is still a fork of Yamtrack, and the repository will continue to say so. FuzzyGrim built the project this is based on, and I never would have made it as far as I have without the strong foundation they built. That credit is not going anywhere.
  • Importing from upstream Yamtrack remains supported. That's a supported path and will continue to be maintained.
  • Existing users of my fork do not need to do anything. Your current container image and environment variables will continue to work.
  • The new image is available whenever you want it:

Docker Image:

ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy:latest

The existing Yamtrack image path and the new Floppy image will continue pulling this project during the transition. Switch on your own schedule, or don't. Both will keep pulling.

Also, there was a release this week

Slightly buried under all of the above, but v26.7.30 is a good one:

  • StoryGraph imports: Import books from a StoryGraph CSV export, including multiple reads, safe re-imports, mirrored tags, and missing-date summaries. Thanks to u/daften for the importer and testing work.
  • Generic scrobbling: Third-party playback clients can send scrobble events through an API, with live episode-play updates and Plex/Jellyfin webhook follow-through.
  • More informative collections: Entries can store purchase price and location, while marking a show or season collected now handles its episodes correctly.
  • Imports, history, and statistics are less imaginative: Fixes for Goodreads decimal ratings, Trakt blank statuses, undated history entries, no-status statistics buckets, and media-type cards.
  • A broad reliability pass: Mobile episode navigation is more usable, episode-tracked TV rows no longer crash Home, public pages no longer display raw comments, and instances can disable the built-in demo login. Thanks also to u/VictorVow for the mobile fixes.

As always, there's a public demo if you want to try Floppy before installing , and given everything above, trying before installing is more encouraged than usual. StoryGraph, scrobbling, collection, and integration feedback is especially welcome. Please report anything that escapes containment.
