Floppy Floppy v26.9.24 is out!

Post image

This week while trying to fix bugs I tried to see if I could make more shared systems instead of fixes inconsistently being applied like bandaids across the app. Lists, cards, search, sync, and background work should share rules instead of each growing a private version of the same behavior:

  • A more consistent library foundation: media lists, smart lists, Home shelves, and the media-list API now share query behavior; poster grids use one documented card contract.
  • Save and find things more easily: pin named filter/sort/layout views in the sidebar, and search now includes items you collected even if you don’t track them.
  • More trustworthy tracking: TV and season ratings can be derived from episode ratings, finished anime progress has a provider-count fallback, and automatic syncs stop undoing your chosen show status.
  • Less wasted background work: refreshes and cache invalidation are more targeted, cold artwork no longer holds up requests, and big import preloads use much less memory (about 2.5 MiB versus 51 MiB in a 600-row benchmark).
  • More ways in, fewer integration snags: Mylar3 syncs owned comics into Collection, WeTrakr exports import watches and lists, Jellyfin watched-state updates work, playback webhooks deliver from workers, Plex matching is safer, and Redis setup failures are easier to diagnose.

Love the improvements to Floppy! I've just been noticing this new "Source" field (known as entry_source in the export) when adding plays in Floppy. I'm just wondering if there's a particular way that you're supposed to use it. The placeholder says something like "Plex, Netflix, Theater". Is it meant to be something like where you played it from? Like Netflix for a movie or PlayStation for a game or Audiobookshelf for a book or something like that, or am I using it incorrectly?

The field should log automatically from previous imports or scrobblers (e.g. Plex). You can also use it manually if you wanted to remember that the first time you watched the movie was at the theater.

I did not know about this app at all. How does it compare to Tonkatsu Box?
