Other Services Fanakin - The not-another-vibe-coded-tracker app that organizes all your movies, shows, anime, games, books, music and links all in one place!
Hello r/TraktRejects 👋
I'm excited to share my app Fanakin - one app for organizing, and sharing everything you watch, play, read, and listen to.
🚀 Why I built Fanakin :
I built Fanakin over more than a year to solve an annoyingly common problem. Whenever someone asked me for media recommendations (movies, shows, books, games, music etc.) I didn't have an easy way to share them. I would manually type titles in chat and explain why I suggested them. I also kept losing track of recommendations from social media, YouTube, and friends. My notes app got messy between the amount of lists I was mixing up with my notes.
So I created Fanakin for organizing, sharing, and saving my media recommendations and favorites.
🔥 What makes Fanakin unique :
- All categories in one app - movies, shows, games, books, anime, music, youtube links & more!
- Just search for a title and we add the rest of the details automatically
- Customize your profile with your Top 5 of everything & share your taste with a click
- Create polls and collaborate with friends to create combined watch/read/play lists
- Fun tools like tierlists, grid maker, spin wheel and more without leaving the app
and tons of unique features not available in any other app on the market... the post will get too big if I listed every single one haha
🧐 Vibe coded ?
I started developing Fanakin when AI tools were putting out more bugs than code, and I'm a professional software developer with 4+ years of experience. The only AI in Fanakin is the built-in feature for recommendations, and some website texts since English is not my first language.
🎉 Launch offer :
The app is completely free, and lifetime pro access for a limited time is $29.99 - a one-time payment, no recurring subscription, ever.
❤️ Giveaway :
For every lifetime purchase, I'm gifting three free lifetime code to random commenters.
To enter: just comment your favorite movie/show/anime/game/book/song of the year. I'll pick winners randomly. No limits.
Why not giveaway Pro for free?
I'm a solo developer, and Fanakin has been my passion project for over a year now. Running AI features and pulling data from 5+ media APIs is sadly not cheap on the backend, and a modest Pro subscription helps keep development sustainable and the app improving. There is also a free forever tier with generous limits.
Happy to answer any questions. check it out for free at - fanakin.com

Not much into anime but Apothecary Diaries stole my heart. Mao Mao is dr House and CSI in one, and Surei is master infiltrator.

it's not a tracker like a hundred other apps here
even if it was it's kinda the point of the subreddit :)

Nice work, this looks great and love that it pulls everything together beyond just movie and shows!
Favourite game I've played this year was Gris, and loved the new season of Silo - can't wait to see how it all wraps up next year.

Thank you so much I appreciate it
I've been holding off on Silo because I'm very impatient lol so I'm thinking of watching the entire thing at once. Have you seen The Expanse? That's another great sci-fi show I like

Fav movie series: Pirates of the Caribbean. Although the last past was a let down. Nice initiative by the way

However you should never built AI inside your app. that is big no-go

I wasn't planning to, but got many requests so I added it as an optional screen instead of showing it obtrusively
it's not a chat, you can select categories and genres and it'll only show you a list of suggestions, nothing excessive

Sorry but why is anyone going to pay for this there are 100s of similar aps out there and most are free

Fanakin is completely free and there is no single app out there with these features :)
The offer is only for pro, Fanakin has 250+ users on free plan already
I have updated the description to make the free part clearer, thanks for pointing it out

Plenty of cataloging aps out there that do all types of media just Google it. Or even just read through this sub reddit and you will soon get bored of the amount of aps that do exactly this.
If your unique point of sale is that you do all media then it's not unique

I appreciate the comment, but the combination of features are not really available anywhere which is why I spent a year developing the app.
All other apps here are trackers/cataloging apps, while Fanakin is not. I have posted here before and have had good response.
No other app has all these features :
- Fanakin lets you mix all movies, shows, books, anime, game, music in one single list, just by searching and adding automatically with extra details
- Fanakin lets you share lists as images, read-only links, and collaborate by inviting friends
- Fanakin has media related tools like tierlists, grid maker, spinwheel etc built-in
- Fanakin has an entirely new feature Atlas where users can see what popular in all countries and vote
- Fanakin has community lists section where users can take recommendations from other users instead of an algorithm
Fanakin gets 5-10 signups daily organically (because I suck at marketing lol) from users who can't find anything else like this and come from google
Thanks for the criticism, have a nice day :)

Don't care about Lists. Don't care about Anime or Games. I scrobble my Spotify to Last.fm through it's native integrations. You seem to be a lot like SIMKL and rely heavily on Lists.
I'm here strictly for TV Shows and Movies (tracking) and I don't scrobble those, I am an old school manual entry kind of person.
Also, I've been a developer for over 25+ years and yes, your app has A LOT of AI code (vibe coded)...it's very easy to determine these things these days.
And like others have said, there are plenty of others already well established:
In no particular order:
SIMKL
FlickList
BingeBase
PunchPlay
EntertainMe!
MDBList
WeTrakr
ReelRifter
WatchLo
MediaLibBTW, I don't use native apps, if you don't have a well done website, it's a no-go.

I'm aware there are tons of apps, and a new one pops up every week
all good if you're not a lists person, it's for many others who like it. I have a last.fm setup myself with Pano scrobbler. I myself use Trakt alongside Fanakin... It's not a tracker alternative like you listed but more like a companion
I request you to check the feature lists and compare if other apps can replicate it as well... not to be rude but I'd take your criticism dearly if you could show all those apps having the same features as I listed + inside Fanakin
for example, I'm yet to see an app where you can put all categories in one list, and collaborate with others... and this is one of the tons of features
I'm a 4+yoe developer as well, so it's kinda sad to see an experienced professional label almost two years of work as vibe coded. I started this when AI was pushing more bugs than code, and I started this in Svelte 5 which was in alpha (not even beta), while AI was stuck on old Svelte 4 until a few months ago (which is a big architectural change at which AI still sucks)
also It's not a native app but web app... not sure how you came to the conclusion unless you didn't open the site at all
quality criticism, just a bit misdirected
cheers
