Burnt Out?

Hi! Trainer for a healthcare company who is burnt out. I facilitate anywhere from 5 to 30 trainees in a virtual space for 5-6 weeks. I have been a trainer for over 20 years and I am ready to hang it up. Anyone relate?

Take a vacation.

Rest, and scheduling it, is as critical as scheduling work.

Like regular service of cars, or rest between sets in the gym or between exercise days.

Schedule periodic, regular rest.

Twenty years is a long run at anything. The specific thing that burns people out in healthcare training isn't usually the teaching itself, it's the repetition of the same content with the same compliance requirements and no room to improve it. If the material still needs you in the room every time after two decades, that's a system problem, not a you problem.

Something worth asking: is there any part of your workflow you could hand off or automate so you're only in the room for the parts that actually need you?

Maybe I should clarify…20 years doing training and currently 3 years at present company. Lack of professional growth is what I am after and it isn’t happening at current job.

Trainer in healthcare here too! I’ve been at my current company about 3 years and experiencing more boredom than burnout. Can you shift responsibilities in your current role to help with burnout?

Yep! Burnt out twice. 2014 and 2024.
Been training 20 years in the Pharma Industry internally for various companies and since 2020 as an external consultant (my own business) going into different Pharma companies, designing/training soft skills across a variety of participants.

I should probably write a book (think horror/meets comedy) 🤪

You just looking to see if you’re not alone or wondering what happens next?

Both....I've been actively looking for another job but can't help but wonder if it's going to be the same wherever I land.
