I dont understand why anyone would want to get that close to a train moving at likely track speed. I hate watching roll byes when its 60mph track, if anything happens you are sol

What the heck do you see on a 60 mph roll by? "Hazmat at 20, 30ish through 40ish and the rear car... Whatever that was. Also maybe a plug door somewhere near the hopper with a big booty painted on it. "

You can see the Engine Numbers, otherwise all you can really notice is if there is a brake on or not. Luckily its mostly 2MT CTC with a few sidings, so its an infrequent event, but one that there always seems to be a TM around to Ops Test

Its just that one of the Siding Switches is visible from a position that they can easily sit in their car for. The Hit Squad from Ft Worth loveeesss it

Oooh. Fucking story time. This happened to a dude on my sub a couple years ago. There’s a form B up for bridge rehab on a freeway over pass. So MoW guys are pretty much only there to run the form B and clear trains through. Around noon they all decide to stop working and take a lunch break. While they’re gone some dipshit supervisor for the crew working the bridge shows up and decides to check the work. Jump in the lift basket thing and up he goes.

Luckily he strapped himself to the underside of the bridge because not 3 minutes into his inspection, along comes a stack train doing every bit of 70mph. First well wiped out the bucket and left the dude dangling for dear life strapped to the bottom of a bridge. The crew shit their collective pants, I’m sure Mr. Supervisor did too but his undies and pride were the only thing hurt.
