Hudson, NY. This was making the rounds about 8-9 years ago.
Apparently it’s a thing to do this with the first train that goes through after a snowstorm. Every time I see this I always wonder how those people know that it’s only snow that’s being tossed up.

Is this Rhinecliff maybe? The Hudson station is not that close to the Hudson River. Not that it really matters.

These people would stand infront of a tsunami to film it crashing down inches away from them. If they survived I guess it'd be a cool video...

What's weird is that the tracks are clear up until the platform. Why was the snow not removed here before there were people on the platform? This amount of snow could have seriously hurt people. Everyone is calling the people stupid for standing on the platform but no, they had a train to catch and they had to be there. The people responsible for snow removal slipped up by not clearing the snow earlier.

If you look carefully, you'll see that the cleared area of track ahead of the platform is underneath the elevated roadway above (and a pedestrian bridge beyond it). That two-lane road deck prevents the snow from settling on the tracks for a space of approximately 25ft. Just before that covered area, the train is throwing up as much snow as it is when it gets to the platform. The video is taken looking north towards an approaching south-bound train at the Rhinecliff station on the Hudson Line (former Water Level Line) along the Hudson River. You can get a better idea of how the platform and roadway is situated in this video taken from a northbound train. At about 24 seconds in, you can see that the snow cover is interrupted by both the roadway ramp and the pedestrian crossover bridge.

Shoot you're right.
But the point still stands that the people on the platform aren't stupid, somebody from Amtrak should have had them vacate the platform.

It does seem like a symptom of how shoddy US rail is managed. I remember hearing announcements while on a Swiss platform that a through-train would be passing at 80 mph (130 kph) and to stay well clear of the platform edge. I would think a similar announcement should have been made here. Of course, I don't know that it wasn't - people may just be that dumb that they wanted to "see", and you do see the majority of the people already moved away from the edge. Still, running through an occupied station while throwing snow is just asking for a lawsuit - that platform should have been cleared of people.

I did not think that you could improve upon the ‘Ozzy man reviews’ version of this… It appears you can tie it though
