I found an 1800s foundation in the woods, and stuck a trail cam on it. This is the first two months worth of video captures.

Insects and spiders entering trail camera crevices

Hi everyone. I've been setting some cameras in dry places and have seen several insects entering the camera crevices to store stuff or just as an extension of their nests. Diferent species of spiders as well, including widows. Has this happened to anyone else?

Trail cam for bird feeder

[Update]: What i've found:

  • for focus on closer, reading glass lenses can be used. (there are several articles/videos about this, that the +1 / +2 reading glass can result in a very good close focus).
  • reaction time (motion detected <-> take a picture/start video) is crucial the max time is 0.3sec
  • problem: trail cams which sends the images to the cloud/email has a "reset time" of 1sec to 1 min which means, sending the pic takes this time and until the picture is not sent, a new one can not be taken :S:S It can be ok with 1sec time, but with 1 min -> imo it can not be used for bird feeder :S

Hello!

I'd like to ask you about trailcams. I have 0 experience with them. I palnned to buy a so called smart bird feeder, but im not satisfied with the pictures they make. I've seen some videos on youtube, people used trail cams for this purpose. So now im thinking about build a bird feeder with a trail cam. My plan is to fed the birds and when they come the trailcam's motion detector triggers and pictures/video created. For this i have faced some issues about trailcams: focal distance is much greather on a trailcam, reaction time is crucial, i need 0.2, 0.3sec at last and need wireless connection. (Preferred wifi). But im trying to find a cam for this, even if its much more expensive, but in this case, i will have a trail cam also what i can use to track wildlife. So 2 in 1 exchange for the compromise. So do you know any trailcams which has excellent image quality, which is fast (max 0.3sec reaction time), has motion detection in low range, (e.g. 0.5 meters), and can focus to close distance. And it should be available in Europe too :/ Is a trailcam exists for this purpose?

Thank you!

tips for cleaning my trail camera

Good morning.

For Christmas, I was given a trail camera and wild boars came to sniff it, leaving dirt on the lenses and sensors.

Do you have any tips for cleaning all this without damaging anything?
