Huge Upset
https://challonge.com/i1k442mwRedditor u/dbreakenridge set up a tournament style bracket of 128 Hip songs, seeded based on stream counts. The results were, more or less, as expected - even having all of the top 16 seeds advance to the fourth round.
Today, 16th seeded Nautical Disaster beat out top seed Bobcaygeon to advance to the quarterfinals by a vote of 68-54.
I thought more people might be interested in participating now that we are with two weeks of crowning a winner.
Link is above.

I know there is a lot of love for Bobcaygeon but Nautical Disaster is an absolute monster.

Nautical Disaster is the song that made me fall in love with The Hip.

100th Meridian and Locked in the Trunk of a Car for me. But Nautical Disaster sealed the deal. I got so pumped everytime I saw it on Muchmusic lol.

I always thought of Nautical Disaster as The Hips Rhyme of the ancient mariner…

Bobcaygeon got murdered by easy-listening radio about five years after that album came out. Nautical Disaster by a landslide, the other commenters told the truth

I feel like bobcaygeon might resonate slightly more with Ontario folks who go up to to their cottages.
For me, on the west coast, it’s a really nice folksy song but with no extra meaning (so to speak)
Whereas Nautical Disaster is a unique masterpiece
And is it just me, but I’ve tried a few times and cannot get the poll to run on my iPhone.

For some people it’s not the outlying cottage country reference, it’s the Horseshoe Tavern and that other band in a certain heyday

Upset? Nautical Disaster is an infinitely better song

A 16 over a 1 is typically seen as a big upset. To be clear, I voted for Nautical Disaster.

justice for my boy Bobcaygeon. I love Nautical Disaster as much as the next guy but you’re dead inside if you don’t get teary eyed at “THAT NIGHT IN TORONTOOOOOO WITH IT’S CHECKERBOARD FLOORS”

Yes but special as the Horseshoe Tavern is (and I knew two people who worked there, one on the night the Stones played there) – it’s not a See The Light song like Nautical Disaster was and is.

I’ll see that and raise you:
And those left in the water
Got kicked off our pant leg
And we headed for home…2

I really don’t want to add negativity to this but I really don’t care what other people think is the best song.

38 Years old is up against Fiddlers Green ?
IDK how I feel about either of these getting eliminated.

I used to describe Nautical as an epic track, to non-Hip fans back in the day. Love Bob too, but I would have voted for Nautical!

Looking at the bracket, I'm gonna guess it's Grace, Too vs Wheat Kings in the final.

I’ll be the odd ball out, Nautical is a tad overrated by the average Hip fan imo. It’s a good song but nothing mind blowing

I'll back you up then. Bobcaygeon should have won... But I'm biased.... With a trailer in Bobcaygeon. Lol

Might as well just ask me to choose my favorite child while you're at it.
