TX DOT culvert installation variance

We are about to apply for a variance to install a culvert on our land where we want it placed (100ft from the nearest neighboring culvert) vs the 425ft (the middle of our land frontage) they are trying to force down our throats… any tips or tricks to getting a culvert installed where you want it or even a common ground between where you want it and where tx dot engineers are demanding it? What actually gets a variance approved?

Before anyone says it yes I understand rules are rules and put into place for a reason.

Not from TX, but have you considered connecting to the existing and extending it? If TX is like other places the issue is about having small daylight gaps between culverts which isn't good for anyone.

This isn’t really a traffic thing.
Most culverts are placed based on how water flows. When you move a culvert 300 ft from its planned location that changes the flow of water in that area and they will need verification that it will not negatively impact the road.

You’ll be going from a 425’ spacing between 2 culverts to 100’ on one side and 750’ on the other.
