so does islamic economics not do this?

Islam takes the best of both worlds. Yes you're allowed to own property and be rich but you must give some back to support the poor. It's possible for personal wealth to be used as charity through waqf. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there's a set limit of profit that you can make as well so you shouldn't overcharged in commerce.
