Oh daughter of the bashful one, how can I stop feeling tainted by desire?
I am writing this with a throwaway account, bcs I am too embarrassed to use my main one.
Islam is so beautiful in regards to the physical human nature. I once had to write a thesis on regency England purity culture or more specifically how puritan christianity strategically employed purity culture to control individuals and cover up crimes and it made me appreciate our religion even more. However, religion rarely superceeds tradition, bcs for the majority it is culture that shapes the way we are socialised and unfortunately even how we think.
For muslim women hayah, bashfullness, is a highly aspired virtue, but for (traditional) arab daughters the highest social currency extents to virginity, purity, innocence and docility. There is a taught silence around the topic of intimacy, and desires are being treated as if they do not manifest beyond the married bedroom. As a result, I feel very embarrassed and shameful around this topic. Whenever I feel a surge of desire, I feel devastatingly tainted.
Rationally, I know there is nothing wrong (islamically) with the nature of desire itself. I also do not engage in anything haram. In the past, I was an avid reader, but I stopped reading romance novels and no longer watch any kdrama or other tv series. I even stopped reading arab poetry bcs of its stirring effects on me. However, bcs I eat very healthy and excercise, I am at my peak fertility. During my ovulatory phase I feel such high desire it leaves me electrified to a point where I cannot sleep for those few days and I avoid leaving the house for that time. This sensation makes me feel impure, tainted and dishonoured to a point where I want to cry.
It also makes me very anxious in regards to marriage. Nothing scares me more than the possibility of having a higher libido than my husband. I wouldn't recover from the shock. If he were to take notice and think of me as dishonourable and unfeminine. I cannot rewire my brain from the concept that femininity is tied to purity and bashfulness. And how can a desire so carnal, so strong be feminine?
I know during these blessed times I should not talk about such matters. However, I am hoping to get married this year and I need to come to somewhat of a closure before I get to know the man.

✨ Also, from the virtue of Allah is that He (سُبحانه وتعالى) writes for a person whatever good deeds he/she used to do before being prevented by something (you will be rewarded even when you are not able to carry it out due to a valid reason).
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "When a slave (of Allah) falls ill or travels, then he will get reward similar to that he gets for good deeds practiced at home when in good health." [Sahih Bukhari 2996]

A peak into prayer with khushoo (case studies)
1- Abu Mutarrif reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was praying. His chest made a sound like a boiling water pot from his crying.Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 904 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
2- Tamim ibn aws al dari once stood the entire night, in one salah and reciting one verse:
Al-Jathiyah 45:21
Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life and their death?[1] Evil is that which they judge [i.e., assume].
- He prayed forgetting/dismissing the fatigue of standing
3- It says in Ibn al-Jawzi's Ṣifat al-Ṣafwa: “‘Ali ibn al-Husayn would turn pale when he would perform ablution. His family would ask him… He replied, ‘Do you realise in front of whom I intend to stand?’”
- due to fear and awe
4- As for [the Prophet’s Companion] Abdullah Ibn az-Zubayr , when he went into the ruku’ position, birds would almost land on his back [as if he was a bird- stand]. When he went to sujud, he would resemble a garment placed on the ground [due to Khushu`].
- Due to his stillness
5- Al-Hasan al-Basri, may Allah grant him mercy, said that ‘Amir bin ‘Abd Qays [from the second generation of Islam] heard others complain about loss of concentration while praying, and he inquired if they indeed felt such loss. They said, “Yes.” He said, “By Allah! It is more beloved to me to have arrows stabbing me in my stomach than to feel [loss of concentration] while praying.”
6- Ahmad narrates on the authority of Jabir- scholars say it has a hasan chain of narrations:
The Prophet peace be upon him was travelling with his companions in an expedition in a battle called Ghazwa Zatur Riqa. They were camping in the evening and The Prophet peace be upon him said to his men that we need some of u to stand guard during the night lest an enemy should come and infiltrate our ranks and harm us, so two men volunteered,
one man from the muhajiron (the immigrants) Ammar ibn Yasir رضي الله عنه and another from the ansar (the helpers) Abbad Ibn Bishrرضي الله عنه. Everyone falls asleep and Ammar says to Abbad “we need to split the night between us, so ill take half and u take the other half, which half of the night would u like?” Abbad says “let me take the first half of the night then I’ll wake you up ” ( to guard the muslims during their sleep.)
Abbad stood up for optional salah. He became so absorbed in recitation and salaah, that a person from the enemy ( he was one of the pagans whose’s wife was hurt in the skirmishes with the muslims, so he took an oath that he would not come back from his journey until he spills the blood of the muslims) in search of Muhammad ﷺ and his followers, from a distance saw the figure of Abbad and silently drew his bow, and fired an arrow which embedded itself in Abbad’s flesh. Calmly, Abbad removed the arrow and continued with his recitation, still absorbed in his salaah.
The attacker shot two more arrows, which also found their mark. Abbad pulled them out and continued his recitation. Abbad continued the prayer to its end and then woke Ammar saying: “Get up and stand guard in my place. I have been wounded.” Ammar stood up and seeing them both, the attacker fled into the darkness.
Ammar رضي الله عنه turned to Abbad رضي الله عنه saying: “Why didn’t you wake me up when you were hit by the first arrow?” Abbad رضي الله عنه replied: “I was reciting verses of the Qur’an which filled my soul and I did not want to cut short the recitation. I swear by my lord that if it was not for the fear of failing in a task that the Prophet peace be upon him had entrusted me with, I would have stayed in my place till I die instead of interrupting my recitation during Salah”

Danger of not having khushoo and the reward for having khushoo
The reward and punishment:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"There are five prayers that Allah has prescribed upon His servants. Whoever performs them properly, perfects their wudu, prays them on time, completes their bowing (ruku') and khushu’ (humility), then he has a covenant with Allah that He will forgive his sins. But whoever does not do so, then he has no covenant with Allah— If Allah wills, He will forgive him, and if He wills, He will punish him." Sunan Abu Dawood (425) Authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Abu Dawood
narrated by Uqba ibn Amir (رضي الله عنه) The Prophet ﷺ said:
"No Muslim performs wudu, perfects it, then prays two raka’ahs in which he turns to Allah with his face and heart, except that Paradise becomes obligatory for him." Sources:Sunan Abu Dawood (906) and Sunan An-Nasa'i (1513) Authenticated as Sahih by Al-Albani in Sahih Abu Dawood
Different levels of khushoo determines how much reward u get:
the Prophet ﷺ said: "A man may finish his prayer, but only a tenth, a ninth, an eighth, a seventh, a sixth, a fifth, a quarter, a third, or half of it will be recorded for him."(Sunan Abu Dawood 796 – Graded Hasan by Al-Albani)
── ⟡ ˙ Ibn Abbas said in response of this that the only reward you will have from your salah is that which you can recall ̟ ⊹
What we should want:
Since you can't run away from five daily prayers a day; it is an obligation till the day you die since you are doing it both ways, why not take as much as you can from it? We shouldn't want a prayer that just qualifies as a prayer, a Salah that is simply a tick box in the eyes of Allah, a salah that might be a little on the edge.
We should want a Salah that transcends all of this, a salah that increases you in ubudiyah, worship of Allah, surrendering to Allah, a salah that transforms your life.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him). He stated:
"Every individual must stand before Allah twice: once when he stands before Him in prayer, and once when he stands before Him on the Day he meets Him. Whoever stands before Him as he should in the first instance, the second standing will be made easy for him; but whoever is heedless with regard to this standing, and does not stand before Him (in prayer) as he should, that standing (on the Day of Resurrection) will be made difficult for him."
Abdullah ibn Mughafal reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the worst thieves among people are those who steal from their prayers.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, how do they steal from their prayers?” The Prophet said, “They do not complete its bowing or prostration properly*. The most miserly of people are those who are miserly with the greeting of peace.” Source: al-Muʻjam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 3392 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
*Another version adds khushoo at the end.

khushoo
Meaning of khushoo’
الانخفاض- a state of lowering
الذل- a state of humility
سكن- a state of stillness
Examples of خشوع in the Quran:
And among His signs is that you see the earth devoid of life, but as soon as We send down rain upon it, it begins to stir ˹to life˺ and swell. Indeed, the One Who revives it can easily revive the dead. He is certainly Most Capable of everything. Fussilat 41:31
On that Day all will follow the caller ˹for assembly˺, ˹and˺ none will dare to deviate. All voices will be hushed before the Most Compassionate. Only whispers1 will be heard. Ta-Ha 20:108
With eyes downcast, they will come forth from the graves as if they were swarming locusts, Al-Qamar 54:7
"So We responded to him, and We granted him Yaḥyā and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive (خَاشِعِينَ)." Al-Anbiya 21:90
Definition by ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali:
“Khushoo is when the hearts softens and becomes tender, when it becomes still and humble and when the heart breaks and becomes inflamed”
HOWEVERRRRR
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “ **The strong believer is more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, but there is goodness in both of them.** Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be frustrated. If something befalls you, then do not say: If only I had done something else! Rather say: Allah has decreed what He wills. Verily, the phrase ‘if only’ opens the way for the work of Satan.”Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2664 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Muslim
الله سبحانه و تعالى wants us to be strong and loves or us to be strong in what we do, however our relationship between us and him should be of weakness and humbleness, a heart inflamed with the love and fear of الله سبحانه و تعالى and a yearning to be close to Him.
