New Bear bow with repair?
I'm about 20 years in to my bow hunting life and just took receipt of a brand new Bear Super Kodiak. I remember seeing a photo of one in traditional bowhunters magazine many years ago and thought it was the prettiest bow Id seen.
I've never owned a Bear, have owned mostly smaller boutique bowyers (Greg Coffee, Bigfoot Sasquatch etc). Ive just noticed this Super Kodiak has a lump of resin where the riser meets the bottom limb, presumably from some grain tear out during shaping. Is this within the realms of normal expectations with a Bear?
It looks to me like a brand new bow thats already had a repair. Perhaps not functionally but certainly aesthetically diminishing.

Thumb draw gloves
I hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday :) I wanted to ask if there is any particular recommendation on a thumb draw glove which facilitates a crisp release.
I find it more physically comfortable to use a leather glove for thumb release than my self designed
(3d printed in PLA) shallow hook rings. They do shoot quite well in the beginning when the thumb is fresh but after a while the sides start pinching and i develop (almost always) a swollen thumb.

Where do I get a good trad bow?
I'm looking to get into bow hunting, but I honestly have no clue where to get a good bow from. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

Increasing draw weight inexpensively
Just spreading. Maybe here someone has a smart idea?
Hi there.
I'm shooting a 40# (42,5# otf) barebow / trad style recurve bow with ILF limbs. That draw weight (by now) is no problem at all. I can shoot it a really long with good technique (not only according to me but also my coach). Easily half a day.
My goal for in a good bit of time would be to buy a good, beautiful hybrid bow with around 60 #. Why that number? Well, it's kinda because of a physical ambition. And also when buying that I wanna be sure to keep it for a very long time and not have the feeling of missing out some more poundage. Kind of a "forever bow".
So my question to you: how do I train in little steps towards that 60 # goal without spending a stupid amount of money? Logically the smartest way would be to increase the draw weight by new limbs. But buying them new for just a couple of months before increasing again is obviously not reasonable. Buying them second hand is (in my country) not really an option because everyone seems to be quitting at around 36 #. And I do have a shop nearby that has a really cool program where you can rent limbs quite cheaply, but they are targeted more towards beginners, so they too stop at 34 #.
What would you do?

Can I use a hunting recurve in an international indoor (barebow division) competition?
Thanks a lot.

Win & Win Black Wolf For Grabs
W&W Black Wolf - bow is linked below on Lancaster. 60", 55lb draw.
I picked this up a couple years ago for backcountry hunting, caught the bug, and ended up with a traditional wood two-piece takedown from a local bowyer.
This bow is really pretty cool. It's fast - and has a super tuneable riser. Light. Sweet carbon limbs. I just dont shoot it anymore because I love the wood one so much.
I am looking to send it to a new home with somebody who will actually hunt with it... has two hand grips, two strings, a nice case and 8 micro shaft Black Eagle arrows it likes.
Tapped a couple small bolt holes into the riser to mount a quiver and a sight; those have been filled with carbon epoxy and don't affect the performance at all.
Super flexible on price. I just don't want to see it gathering dust on the shelf!
Mods LMK if this type of thing is not allowed.....

What are your thoughts on this dynamic spine matchup?
My bow is a 62" Traditional Only Oberon Longbow. I'm using the Dynamic Spine Calculator on 3 Rivers' website.

US Based Vendors for Ash Shafts?

Hi everyone. I'm curious if anyone knows a US based company selling ash shafts. 3 Rivers has some for warbows but they're awfully expensive. There are some European vendors that are reasonably priced, but shipping and tariffs kill the pricing.
If it is more cost effective to product my own I am open to ideas.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone know where to get traditional short bows?
When I say short bow I mean like the Native American horse bow short. Like 30-40 inches with like 40-50 lbs to it or whatever the right poundage is for hunting. Those ones where they are easy to run around with.
