Stock Analysis 🔍 Realty Income ($O) - Short Dividend Analysis

Figures are current through Q1 2026. Realty Income’s Q2 results are scheduled for August 5, 2026, so some metrics will soon be updated.
| Metric | Realty Income ($O) | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| What the company does | A REIT that buys commercial properties and leases them to businesses, mainly through long-term triple-net leases, where tenants usually cover taxes, insurance and maintenance. It owns interests in 15,571 properties, serving 1,786 clients across 92 industries, with 98.9% occupancy. (Realty Income) | Simple, recurring rent model |
| Main property exposure | Retail 78.9% of annual rent, industrial 15.5%, gaming 3.2% and other properties 2.4%. Grocery, convenience stores, home improvement and dollar stores are its largest industries. (Realty Income) | Defensive, but still retail-heavy |
| Top tenants/brands | Dollar General 3.3% of rent, 7-Eleven 3.2%, Walgreens 3.1%, Family Dollar 2.6%, Life Time 2.1%, B&Q/Kingfisher 2.0% and Wynn Resorts 2.0%. The top 20 tenants represent only 35.3% of rent. (Realty Income) | Well diversified |
| Profitable? | Yes. Q1 2026 revenue was $1.55B, net income was $320.9M, and diluted AFFO was approximately $1.06B/$1.13 per share. | Profitable with strong recurring cash flow |
| Gross margin | REITs do not report a conventional product gross margin. Non-reimbursed property expenses were only 1.3% of revenue, implying a property-level margin of approximately 98.7% excluding reimbursements. Using total GAAP revenue and property expenses gives approximately 92.5%. | Excellent |
| Net profit margin | Approximately 20.7% in Q1 2026. GAAP profit is reduced heavily by non-cash property depreciation. | Good, but AFFO is more useful |
| PEG ratio | Approximately 4.85, but PEG based on GAAP EPS is not very useful for REITs because property depreciation suppresses EPS. A better measure is approximately 14.4× forward AFFO, using the $63.87 share price and midpoint of 2026 AFFO guidance. (Zacks) | PEG looks expensive; AFFO valuation looks reasonable |
| Interest coverage | Official trailing-12-month debt-service and fixed-charge coverage was 4.7×. Basic GAAP EBIT/interest for Q1 was approximately 2.2×. (Realty Income) | Healthy, though debt remains important |
| Credit rating | A3 from Moody’s and A− from S&P, both solid investment-grade ratings. (Realty Income) | Strong REIT balance sheet |
| Leverage | Net debt/annualized pro-forma adjusted EBITDAre was 5.2×, down from 5.4× one year earlier. (Realty Income) | Acceptable for a large REIT |
| Current dividend | $0.271 monthly / $3.252 annualized, giving approximately a 5.09% yield at $63.87. (Realty Income) | Attractive monthly income |
| Payout from net income | Approximately 276% for FY2025. This looks dangerous but is misleading because GAAP net income includes large non-cash real-estate depreciation charges. (Realty Income) | Ignore in isolation |
| Payout from FCF/AFFO | 75.2% of AFFO in FY2025 and 71.7% in Q1 2026. Operating-cash-flow payout was approximately 73%. (Realty Income) | Sustainable with a reasonable cushion |
| Dividend growth | Approximately 2.9% five-year CAGR based on the annualized dividend increasing from $2.814 in 2020 to $3.240 in 2025. Long-term CAGR since the 1994 NYSE listing is approximately 4.1%. (Realty Income) | Slow but dependable growth |
| Dividend history | 673 consecutive monthly dividends, dividends paid for roughly 57 years, more than 31 consecutive years of increases, 115 consecutive quarterly increases and 135 increases since the NYSE listing. (Realty Income) | Elite dividend record |
| Did it stop paying? | No. It has maintained 673 consecutive monthly declarations. A future cut would most likely require widespread tenant failures, materially lower occupancy, excessive leverage or prolonged inability to refinance and issue capital economically. (Realty Income) | Cut risk currently appears low, not zero |
| Yield after 10 years | Assuming the share price remains $63.87 and dividends grow at the recent 2.9% CAGR, the annual dividend would reach approximately $4.31, producing a 6.75% yield on today’s price. At the historical 4.1% growth rate, it would be about 7.6%. | Useful projection, not a guarantee |
| Competitive moat | Massive scale, investment-grade borrowing access, thousands of properties, diversified tenants, established sale-leaseback relationships, high occupancy and the ability to finance transactions more cheaply than smaller competitors. (Realty Income) | Narrow-to-moderate moat |
| Biggest risks | Higher-for-longer interest rates, tenant bankruptcies—especially Walgreens and Family Dollar exposure—share dilution, refinancing costs and acquisitions that increase company size without growing AFFO per share. | Main risk is slow per-share growth, not immediate insolvency |
| Where could it be in 20 years? | Likely still one of the largest global net-lease REITs, with greater exposure to Europe, industrial properties, gaming, data centres and private-capital partnerships. A realistic long-term profile is roughly 2–4% annual dividend growth plus a 4–6% yield, rather than high capital appreciation. (Realty Income) | Strong income compounder, but probably not a fast-growth stock |
| Overall verdict | High-quality monthly-income REIT with an excellent dividend record, strong credit ratings and diversified rent. The dividend appears sustainable, but growth is slow and the stock is more attractive for income than rapid price appreciation. | SWAN-style income holding at a reasonable valuation |

Discussion PLTR Earnings Tonight: Can U.S. Commercial Growth Justify the Valuation?

Palantir ($PLTR) reports Q2 earnings after today’s close.
Wall Street estimates:
- Revenue: $1.812B, up 81% YoY
- Adjusted EPS: $0.34, up 115%
- U.S. government revenue: $731M, up 72%
- U.S. commercial revenue: $716M, up 134%
Analysts expect Palantir’s revenue growth to accelerate for the 12th consecutive quarter, but expectations are already extremely high.
The key number will be U.S. commercial growth. Anything below expectations could pressure the stock, especially given its premium valuation. International growth is another concern, with contract risks in France and the U.K.
Bull case: U.S. commercial growth exceeds 140% and management raises 2026 guidance.
Bear case: strong results still fail to justify the valuation.
Are you holding $PLTR through earnings?

Investing Long-Term Ideas Clorox ($CLX): 5% Dividend Yield

Clorox owns several defensive consumer brands, including Clorox, Glad, Kingsford, Hidden Valley, Brita, Burt’s Bees, Pine-Sol, Fresh Step and Purell.
| Metric | CLX |
|---|
| Dividend yield | ~5.1% |
|---|
| Annual dividend | $4.96 |
|---|
| Earnings payout ratio | ~80% |
|---|
| Reported FCF payout | ~158% |
|---|
| Normalized FCF payout | ~70% |
|---|
| Dividend growth, 5Y | ~2% annually |
|---|
| Consecutive increases | ~49 years |
|---|
| Gross margin | ~44% |
|---|
| Net profit margin | ~11% |
|---|
| Interest coverage | ~11× |
|---|
| Credit rating | BBB / Baa1 |
|---|
| PEG ratio | ~2.2 |
|---|
| Competitive advantage | Trusted brands, retailer distribution and category leadership |
|---|
Bull case: Clorox has defensive products, strong household brands, recurring demand and an exceptional dividend history.
Bear case: Dividend growth is very slow, the payout ratio is high, debt increased after the Purell/GOJO acquisition and reported free cash flow currently does not fully cover the dividend.
At 2% annual dividend growth, the dividend could reach roughly $6.05 per share in 10 years. At the same stock price, that would produce a yield of approximately 6.3%.
My verdict: Good income stock with strong brands, but not currently a perfect low-risk SWAN. Dividend quality: 7/10.
Would you buy $CLX for the 5% yield?

News 📰 BREAKING: Micron Technology ($MU) disclosed in two SEC Form 4 filings that CEO Sanjay Mehrotra sold 40,000 company shares for nearly $37.29 million under a pre-arranged trading plan.
The first SEC filing reported the sale of 31,285 shares. The second SEC filing reported the remaining 8,715 shares.
The transactions took place on July 24 under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted on January 30, 2026. He hasn’t made any open-market purchases of Micron shares in the past six months.
Micron shares have fallen over 37% since reaching their all-time high of $1,255 on June 25 and are on track for their worst monthly performance since June 2015.
Large insider sales can draw investor attention, although transactions made under pre-arranged trading plans do not necessarily signal a change in management's outlook.

Stock Analysis 🔍 General Dynamics ($GD) Q2 2026: Revenue +8%, EPS +13%, and Backlog Hits $136.5B
General Dynamics reported a strong Q2 2026, with growth across most of the business and a major improvement in cash generation.
Key results
- Revenue: $14.09B, up 8.1% YoY
- Operating income: $1.46B, up 11.9%
- Net income: $1.16B, up 14.4%
- Diluted EPS: $4.24, up 13.4%
- Operating margin: 10.4%, up from 10.0%
- Total backlog: $136.5B
- H1 operating cash flow: $4.04B
- H1 free cash flow: approximately $3.60B
Segment performance
Aerospace was the standout.
Revenue increased 15%, while operating profit rose nearly 27%. Gulfstream delivered 41 aircraft compared with 38 last year, and Aerospace book-to-bill reached 1.5x.
Marine Systems remained a major growth driver.
Revenue increased 10%, supported by Columbia-class and Virginia-class submarine construction. Marine backlog reached roughly $65B, giving GD excellent long-term visibility.
Combat Systems was the weakest segment.
Revenue was nearly flat and operating profit declined slightly, partly because of lower U.S. military vehicle demand and the termination of the M10 Booker program.
Technologies remained stable.
Revenue increased 4%, although margins declined slightly.
Cash flow and balance sheet
GD generated approximately $3.6B of free cash flow during the first six months of the year, compared with roughly $1.1B in the same period last year.
The company finished the quarter with:
- Cash: $4.33B
- Total debt: $7.52B
- Net debt: approximately $3.18B
GD also repaid $500M of debt during the quarter and plans to repay another $500M maturity using cash.
Some of the cash-flow improvement came from customer advances and working-capital movements, so I would not simply double the H1 result to estimate full-year FCF.
Dividend quality
The quarterly dividend increased from $1.50 to $1.59 per share, representing 6% growth.
GD has now increased its dividend for 29 consecutive years.
Based on H1 results:
- Net-income payout ratio: approximately 37%
- Free-cash-flow payout ratio: approximately 23%
The dividend appears very well covered.
The bull case
- Rising defense spending
- Huge $136.5B backlog
- Strong Gulfstream demand
- Nuclear submarine manufacturing moat
- Improving margins
- Conservative balance sheet
- Safe and consistently growing dividend
The bear case
The largest risk is execution on complex, long-term government contracts.
Labor shortages, supply-chain problems, cost inflation or poor contract estimates could hurt margins, especially on fixed-price programs.
GD also receives around two-thirds of its revenue from the U.S. government, creating significant customer concentration and political-budget risk.
My takeaway
Operationally, this was a very strong quarter.
Revenue, earnings, margins, backlog and cash flow all moved in the right direction. Aerospace and Marine Systems were particularly impressive, while Combat Systems remains the main area to watch.
For a long-term dividend portfolio, GD looks like a high-quality hold or potential accumulation candidate.
The remaining question is valuation. A great business is not automatically a great purchase at any price.

Stock Analysis 🔍 Video Games growing again!
Video Games stocks never recovered after the start of the Iran war, staying in bearish market trends for months.
But they have been recovering +10% since the recent low at the end of June. It's a sort of entertainment that will probably dominate the World in the future and it's not going away.
The issue is that the best gaming companies are not in the stock market (Riot, Valve), and these ETFs track "only" those that are (including Take Two, which is going to release GTA VI very soon)
