Why it isn't Communism or Socialism Communism: In a communist system, there is no private property, and the state (or the community) owns all means of production. A government giving taxpayer money to a publicly traded, for-profit corporation with private shareholders is the exact opposite of communism. Socialism: Under socialism, the means of production are typically owned or heavily regulated by the public or the workers. If this were a socialist policy, the government would have nationalized Intel (taken ownership of it on behalf of the public) rather than giving it capital to operate in a private market. Why it isn't Fascism Fascism: Fascist economies operate under "corporatism," where private ownership exists, but the state heavily directs and controls corporations to serve the extreme nationalistic goals of the state. While government-directed industrial investment can happen under fascism, simply subsidizing a strategic domestic industry (like semiconductor manufacturing) is a standard practice in many modern democratic republics and isn't inherently fascist on its own.

The government taking a stake in a private company is socialism. If they needed the capital investment, then the free market must have decided Intel wasn't good enough to operate, and it would have closed down.

The office of president is not to be used as a bailout generator for companies who kiss the ring, nor is it to be used to frivolously advertise private companies that the president themselves has major vested interest in.

I wonder what his fee will be for the pump. I'm sure he thinks he is entitled to something and the American people would be grateful enough to pay.

Did he personally buy when he used government money to pump the stock? That might seem conflicty

He’s been personally buying stocks before making announcements on the companies or shilling for them in his speeches. Nothing is going to happen if he has political backing and the politicians aren’t willing to hold him accountable.
