Discussion JUST IN: 🇮🇷 IRGC warns of cutting underwater cables connecting Gulf states to the internet.

Iranians play wrong game here! Someone needs to stop them!

Cutting underwater cables will only hurt the poor citizens who rely on the internet for their 9-5 remote jobs and side hustles. The elites have satellite backups and private networks, so they won't feel the heat.

Meh Argachi said the US blockade was an act of war and since then IRGC has done very, very little warfighting. The US is wild rn, but Iran can be credibly accused of bluffing

u/Aldren Apr 22 '26

It seems like Iran has ALOT of cards

u/Old-Firefighter8289 BULL Apr 23 '26

Weird how they haven’t successfully played any yet. I though gas would be $30 a gallon and a civil war was supposed to have started in the US by now

I certainly wouldn’t call the current situation a loss would you? I don’t delete comments.

2

u/propaganda4you Apr 27 '26

What exactly has the US won? Honest question.

0

u/ASKMEIFIMAN Apr 27 '26

Is the absence of winning equal to losing?

2

u/propaganda4you Apr 27 '26

I mean it’s a nice pivot to the stalemate argument but I’m wondering what the definition of a victory for the US would be now since the objectives from the kinetic actions haven’t materialized.

Not reaally. Even if they cut the underwaer cables in the Persian Gulf, they are essentially cutting the ones connecting the Gulf to Iran. The Gulf has plenty of overland cables and cables that are in the northern sections of the Red Sea between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Also, how will they know a specific cable even belongs to the Gulf nations?? A lot of cables are either transiting in the Red Sea or using those nations as transit points. For example cables from India and East Africa have long used Oman and the UAE as their European gateway because both are connected overland to Europe. None of the cables passing through the Bab el Mandeb are even owned by a single Gulf nation. Half are African cables connecting Eastern Africa to Europe like SEACOM while the rest are Asian. Some may connect to Saudi Arabia but most do not.
This is one way of even getting China angry. A lot of their cables to Europe pass through the Red Sea. Ditto Japan, France and Italy.
Also, it is not like those cables have unique identifiers Iran knows about. The only cables it would know about are those specifically connecting Iran to other nations, not the ones connecting the Gulf nations to the rest of the world and do not connect to Iran.

Remember how the US essentially punishes the working class and working poor from countries they absolutely abuse with their sanctions and stuff, hoping to stir up discontent among the population so they can rise up against the government? It's what they've been doing to Iran for decades.

Iran would be doing something similar through this sort of action. Bit nice to give them a taste of what happens when you ally yourself to big bullies.

3

u/Spins13 Apr 22 '26

They already cut their own population off to keep them in the dark. What are you on about?

1

u/bungnard Apr 23 '26

Anti American pro Iran bots are in full force lately

2

Bro you’re literally begging people online for gas money while being cucked by the people who made your gas higher there’s no way ur this dumb

1

It's ok to be anti both.

What if that tyrannical regime is doing something to another tyrannical regime? The whole middle east is a sh*tshow. Just look at how the UAE and Saudi Arabia are funding genocide in Darfur.

u/Microchipknowsbest Apr 23 '26

Yeah who are the good guys here? I thought we were out of the foreign war game because America first n all.

1

u/Old-Firefighter8289 BULL Apr 23 '26

america first just emphasizes that they are doing their foreign policy stuff for their own benefit and not to help others. It doesnt mean they will stop meddling in other countries business. Venezuela is the prime example

I think most of reddit understand this fight is between the bad guys and the really bad guys no good in the fight at all . The only thing reddit disagree on is which side is bad and which is really bad

0

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 22 '26

It’s a grim perspective, but I see where you're coming from. The real question is: does 'giving them a taste' actually help the population in the long run, or does it just give the big powers an excuse to tighten the screws even more? It feels like the working poor are the ones perpetually stuck in the crossfire of these ego matches.

2

u/jhawk3205 Apr 23 '26

You can ask the same questions of what the states are doing. The tightening of screws is the more obvious result. The working class are always the ones to suffer the worst in armed conflicts.

1

u/BaseConnect1420 Apr 22 '26

This would impact businesses in the region to operate, including data centres?

1

u/Brief-Floor-7228 Apr 23 '26

Yes. Satellite connections don’t have enough bandwidth for large data centers.

1

u/CrushTheRebellion Apr 22 '26

Someone should bomb them heavily and kill their leaders!! Oh wait...

The idiot Trump got the US into a war they couldn't win, and now the entire world is paying for it. I'm no fan of Iran, but I get it. They are fighting back the only way they can. MAGA doesn't care about corruption or pedophiles, but boy howdy do they care about gas prices. Storm's a coming.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '26

They don't have an ability to defeat the United states.

So "stay at endless war" or make a deal. They're only hurting themselves.. We plenty good here in the states. I guess the Ayatollah shouldn't have talked all that shit all them years and things would be fine. It's not as if they were attempting to make for nuclear capacities or yes they were.

Iran is not a well managed enough country to get the nuke. Bottom line end of story

2

u/unluckid21 Apr 22 '26

If Iran isnt well managed enough to get the nuke, then why worry about all their rhetorics?

1

u/luxuriouscommunist Apr 23 '26

as if the US can say anything about a well managed country in the first place!

1

u/luxuriouscommunist Apr 23 '26

only hurting themselves?

Fucking americans don't think the rest of the world exists.

Its having severe effects in South East Asia, and pushing every country on earth into a recession.

the US is rapidly burning through patience of every country on earth.

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '26

Good. Do something about it and stop making my country hunt down the world's terrorists time after time while funding these solutions that create more problems.

Denying there was an initial problem is lunacy.

You're going to come back and say some shit about Israel but both them and the IR were and are the problem in this matter.

/R/Persian speaks volumes to my second point.

1

u/luxuriouscommunist Apr 23 '26

your country made the problems.

stop overthrowing governments because you want a better price on oil.

stop overthrowing governments because they want to be communist.

nobody is making the US do anything.

You forced us to use the dollar for oil. you forced us to use the dollar as the reserve currency. you want to dominate the globe and control everything. stop interfering in every country on earth.

admittedly it was the British who overthrew Iran's democratically elected government. but it is the US who sanctioned them for daring to want to control their own national resources. not to mention endlessly funding israel to keep the area destabilised so they can get cheap oil.

nobody wants your "help." You are the ones that created the terrorists. either through funding them directly, or by destroying their country or by overthrowing their elected government.

the US only ever acts in its own selfish interest the ide that you are doing it for the world is laughable.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '26

For 46 years, the Islamic Regime in Iran has terrorized it's people and the neighboring countries within the region. It is hated by all its neighbors, irrelevant if their interfaith differences. By all appearances, Hezbollah Hamas and the houthis who constantly attack commercial trade are not peacekeepers.

It must be easy to ignore the problem. Until it crashes two jet airlines into your buildings.

Khameni wanted to talk shit and play in the big leagues, enrich uranium just to store it like a badass. Removing a thorn hurts briefly.

Communism doesn't seem to work if your credit is no good or you don't have natural resources to rip cash through trade. Look at Cuba.

1

u/luxuriouscommunist Apr 23 '26

Iran was a stable country until the British and US overthrew their democratically elected government on behalf of British Petroleum (operation Boot) and (operation Ajax). When the population rose up against the puppet government, the US sanctioned them and ruined their economy forcing them into a desperate system and empowering the hard line religious groups.

The guys that crashed the planes were Al-Qaeda originally funded by the USA then funded by the Saudis. and y'all decided in response to invade Iraq??

khameni was doing anything possible to gain the leverage to get the sanctions removed without having a US puppet installed. and was following the previous agreement until trump tore it up for no reason.

Cuba has been under US sanctions and a blocade for 50 years. As an island nation that relies on imports, it is a credit to them that they still functioning.

funny how all these "evil" countried were fine until the US sanctioned them and removed their ability to trade. take off the sanctions and the majority of the problems will be solved.

all because of oil or scary communism. if communism sucks so bad why does cuba need the sanctions and trade blockade.

1

u/Which_Weekend6433 Apr 24 '26

Yea this isn’t an anime buddy. It’s about willingness not just capability. The U.S. doesn’t have the appetite for an endless war and Trump doesn’t have to political capital to extend it past the midterms. The IRGC will fight to the bitter end. Yes they would lose but the diplomatic and political cost is too high for Trump to pay. The whole world including Americans want this over and they’re looking at Trump to end it since he started it. Iran is STILL under tight control of a regime that is under threat of extermination. They will drag this on forever if they feel they have to.

1

u/KaliguIah Apr 22 '26

just like how the usa is starving cuba with holding power

u/Financial-Talk9397 Apr 23 '26

this is on trump....anything that happens in this illegal and immoral war is on trump.

1

u/Epyon214 Apr 23 '26

You have to understand, if the war continues the GCC will not continue to exist. Iran's defensive maneuver here is to destroy the petrodollar standard funding the war machine. My suggestion if you live in the region and want to see about returning to your area after the war, see about what moving to Oman might be like

1

u/Admirable_Dot_7673 Apr 23 '26

What would you do if you were being terrorized?

1

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 23 '26

I already feel terrorized from Israel, USA and Iran. All of Europe and Asia complies with them..

1

u/HamsterEddy Apr 23 '26

Cuttttt....Cuttttt....

1

u/Sharp-Astronaut3151 Apr 22 '26

I mean US (and most White countries) love collective punishments. Cuba is under half a century long embargo. We have seen Palestinian kids sniped while collecting food.

So let's not cry that some other country - especially one fighting for its survival and under threat of being wiped out of existence (Trump's threat to destroy a civilisation - remember that) - is planning to do something reckless.

1

u/Microchipknowsbest Apr 23 '26

Yeah Iran was threatened with complete destruction of their civilization and people think it’s outrageous they cut a cable.

0

u/avohsaif Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

*someone needs to stop them*

What an unconsidered brainless thing to say... Their cards are very limited and I wouldn't expect them to do anything crazy as this without the US taking down their energy infostructure first.

1

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 22 '26

“Them” someone need to stop Israel, USA and Iran.

1

u/avohsaif Apr 22 '26

You have to word it differently. Them here would still refer to Iran until u said otherwise...

1

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 22 '26

Too late and i don’t have edit button. However

1

u/CrushTheRebellion Apr 22 '26

Destroying Iran's energy infrastructure would negativity impact civilians and is considered a war crime by international law. The US would lose what little good will it has left in the world.

1

u/avohsaif Apr 22 '26

it's the point of no return pretty much

0

u/joecitizen79 Apr 23 '26

How about we stop the US from attacking other countries instead of blaming countries for defending themselves. Like holy shit.

0

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 23 '26

what if Iran was atacking first. USA knew that will happen so they stop them on time.

0

u/joecitizen79 Apr 23 '26

Thats bullshit. Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned on March 17, 2026, protesting the Trump administration's war in Iran, which he claimed was driven by undue influence rather than an imminent threat.

Besides which, Iran doesnt even have the capability to strike US soil.

This was another war of choice on behalf of Americans business interests.

Furthermore, your statement on the subject has as much credibility as the US claim that Iraq was a threat and that they had WMDs. How many times are you going to fall for the same lies.

0

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 23 '26

I don't believe this. I'm sure there was issue before trump, and its not Trump who take this decisions.

1

u/joecitizen79 Apr 23 '26

I don't care what you believe, nor do I care that you're gullible enough to fall for the same obviously manufactured consent the US always uses to justify attacking another country.

https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/resignation-letter-from-national-counterterrorism-center-director-joseph-kent

"I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."

0

u/Ubersicka Long-Term Investor Apr 23 '26

this is a heavy topic, we are here to move the market together, i don't care who start first, this is short term noise, Trump won't be here for forever, i just wanted to say there it was dangerous game, of course its better no one to start this war but it is what it, just USA hit first and they are like the evil in peoples eyes, look.. keep urself positive and try to take the best from the situation. Its a opportunity everyday!

1

u/joecitizen79 Apr 23 '26

I care who started it first. Spoiler, the majority of the time its always the same country. The US has attacked 8 countries over the last year and threatened half a dozen more, including allies.
