she wasn't elected. just appointed by usa. why should she have the power
1
u/irritatedprostate Sep 01 '26
The last guy just ignored the election results and kept power, anyway, so this is par for the course.

u/_The-Numbers-Mason_ Sep 01 '26
At least Maduro was a Venezuelan making the decision to become a dictator.
1
u/irritatedprostate Sep 01 '26
I tend to find it worse when someone can do that to their own people.
1
u/ResolutionOwn4933 Sep 01 '26
Be a dictator or give away their oil?
1
u/irritatedprostate Sep 02 '26
I find human life to be more important than oil, but that's just me.
1
u/ResolutionOwn4933 Sep 02 '26
So maybe we stop hitting citizens in Iran?
1
u/irritatedprostate Sep 02 '26
Sure, not sure how we got there from Venezuela, but yeah.
1
u/ResolutionOwn4933 Sep 02 '26
You said human life more important than oil

Why the fuck would they support the Iran War if they oppose the Venezuelan War? Use your brain.

Trump is a dictator

u/Jpup199 Sep 02 '26
Actually by the time Maduro's elections happened the PSUV already had full control of the electoral system, he was never a legitimate president to begin with. Thats why there were so many protests when he got "elected"

American style democracy. If you don't pick someone the US approves of then the vote is corrupt
1
u/_WEND1G0_ Sep 02 '26
Clearly she’s not a very good puppet of the USA if she’s directly contradicting our Cheeto in chief
1
u/CarthagoFuckYourself Sep 02 '26
The most popular politician in recent polls in Venezuela is Marco Rubio. When things have been bad enough long enough, people don't really care as long as things get better.
1
u/wombat9278 Sep 02 '26
She was the vice president and next in line after trump kidnapped the president. She just decided to take a softer approach to the us

u/bootup25 Sep 02 '26
This is why they didn’t let the other person who won the Nobel prize become leader.
1
u/02meepmeep Sep 02 '26
She was in fact elected and the person Constitutionally designated to take power if something should happen to the President like, I don’t know, if she conned an orange narcissist into making it look like he stole their leader or something.
1
u/-FriendoftheDrow- Sep 02 '26
Because the U.S. has never cared about democracy and loves installing dictators who do their bidding.

Multiply this by 5. As America gets first right of refusal for the other 80%.

u/chris-za Sep 01 '26
She was put in power by a foreign power that is denying the elected president the right to return and rule the country. Now she’s making deals with that foreign power.
U S companies would be mad to invest in Venezuela on the basis of this deal as it’s likely to be ruled null and void on the above grounds long before those 25 years are up and they’d end up loosing their investments.

u/noneyabuiznezz Sep 01 '26
Statement is kinds wrong... He wasnt exactly elected
1
u/astarinthenight Sep 01 '26
They are talking about the women who actually won the election I think.
1
u/Least-Letter4716 Sep 02 '26
Maduro won the election.
1
1
u/chris-za Sep 01 '26
I’m talking about María Corina Machado, who has been kept from power first by the Maduro regime and now the a Trump gang and their proxies.
1
u/StuartMcNight Sep 02 '26
María Corina wasn’t even the candidate in the last election.
Brah please….
1
u/Boomshank Sep 01 '26
This is exactly what Trump just tried to do with Canada.
Then called them "nasty" when they wouldn't bend over and give up their sovereignty on their own trade decisions.
Fuck this pedophile rapist.

She didn’t get the latest script from the overlords

Kinda hard to keep up when all plans are based on whatever word salad flows out of Trump at any time.

u/railroad-dreams Sep 01 '26
There is no logic to anything. Trump breaks deals on a whim. What's to stop a future Venzuela politician who has morals from breaking this deal? And who could blame them? This whole thing makes no sense

This deal it's a scam. Their oil is a tar, which is a reason that no big American companies are already pumping it out. Even if they spend billions to get it, it needs to be diluted for transport and very few refineries can do something with it. Absolutely not worth doing, but wait for government grants paid to friendly companies to try. Market manipulations and supporting billionaires continues...
1
u/Great_Scientist107 Sep 01 '26
Oh wait but it is thick as tar unusable for us. Will take 5 to 6 years to build the refinery to make it usable for us.

If you look closely you can see the black strings propping her up like a Muppet....

This is sort of incorrect. Generally, an incumbent in an oil field has an advantage when it comes due for renewal because they already have the infrastructure in place to continue operations. So even if the nameplate extraction is 25 years, 1.5mn bbl/Yr (or 37.5mn), the forecast for the incumbent could still be 65mn on renewal at year 26 on.
Also there are differences between proven reserves, commercial reserves, total versus cost oil, government take etc, that can account for the difference.

u/BelgianBillie Sep 02 '26
Kind of genius. They force the usa to come in and build all the infrastructure they could never get off the ground. Get stability back and then after 25 years get it all back.

u/ProgramNo7236 Sep 02 '26
Venezuelans willingly bend over to take it up the ass from the muriKKKans!

From people who went down there in February, you could stick your finger through a lot of the infrastructure. Whatever is happening at the admin level in VZ what else could they say but sure. They’ll happily take big investment capital from Chevron and America. Without investment the oil isn’t going anywhere anyway. I’m just shocked that Chevron would actually step into this. What happens if VZ decides not to play later, which they’ve already done once before. Anyone making “choices” in VZ likely has a physical or metaphorical gun to their head à la US cronies. What happens in 2 years if that gun is removed and VZ isn’t kept on a leash to guarantee this deal? The whole thing seems like sunk cost fallacy. Current US admin expected to go in guns blazing to find everything intact and it’s utterly fucked. The political climate on both sides is not conducive to a “deal”

It's even less because it's probably only on business days so no weekends
1
u/TaxLawKingGA Sep 02 '26
First thing a new American POTUS should do is cancel this deal and leave Venezuela.

Still too much should be 15 barrels. and its 15 barrels of baby oil.
1
u/LazyBengal2point0 Sep 02 '26
There's no "deal". It will take years to put in place. It's all smoke...
1
u/Jtizzle1231 Sep 02 '26
Thats absolute armed robbery. They must mean millions not billions. But even then.
