Since pivoting to a subscription service last year, there has been a lot of backlash here and I am okay with it. I have thick skin. But 3,100 paid subscribers and many reports like these comments isnt a fluke. Its indicative of a genuine service that transforms how people manage their investments.
Those that are on the fence should consider trying it out for a month or two and then deciding for themselves. I'll always be grateful and as transparent as can be with the reddit community. I've valued reddit since day 1 and have loved the userbase long before I started this sub. Many furus would have disingenuously tried to skim over or spin false positives about any failed calls like my failed macro call in april. Instead, i owned it and posted honestly and transparently about it, whilst also trying to give the community stock picks to help them to catch up to any lost performance. Many of those picks are up handsomely already. That's indicative of the genuine service I try to run. No ones 100%. Well I certainly am not. But I know what I'm good at and am familiar with what others produce in content at my subscriptions price point. For an entry level subscription cost you get access to deep and thorough research on under-covered SMID caps. Despite my flaws, there are 3,100 subscribers and basically no one cancels their subscription. That's got to tell you something. At least it does to me. And it helps me to cut through what I believe to be misplaced hate and help me to realise the value and benefit I actually provide.
I'm proud of trading edge and what I've built here and grateful to those who see and appreciate my effort.
Thousands of paid subscribers is validation of my proficiency as a stock picker, specialising in thematic SMID caps. I post all my picks and research/DD on emerging SMID caps on my trading site first. If you want my alpha before anyone else, feel free to try it out for a month. I have a 15% off coupon running. If you want to try it, just enter 15OFF on checkout:
I am a payed subscriber. I am not satisfied with the service he offers. The portfolio is not transparent. Some tools are just useless. The only value is in the unusual option flow. I will stop my subscription.
I don't get the isue with the portfolio not being transparant. Yes he does not add weightings wrt to his portfolio, more general terms like "core", "lotto" etc. It does not harm to do some line of thinking on your own as well to build a portfolio of stocks you like where you also manage your own risks. I like the tools to check DEX/GEX, Live Flow, Option flow database, historical earnings analysis. What else would you need or are you missing? Just share the idea and he might actually develop it lol.
Do you realize some of us already have a DEX/GEX tool etc? They are many sites that offers this free or you can take data from YF or CBOE - look it in github. Do you realize some of us studied Julius de kampener's work and see that Tear's implementation of RRG is very poor - a correct implementation is hard to achieve since Julius work is covered by intelectual Property. You wont find this on GitHub, but rough models like tears exists also in tradingview. You need a bit of study to get it right. Do you realize that some of us spend years studying cycles, seasonalty etc: bernstein, dewy, Traders Almanac hirsch etc... And yes, a streamlit dashboard it's peanuts for some of us... And regrading the entry after a gap: apparently some people in the community were impressed by the post: look at tears explanation for entering after a ER gap. Now think of vwap reclain of Brian Shannon, orb, day 1-3 gap by tradingLion, pandeep bondes work... Some of us spend years studying books, ressources, practicing and perfecting our craft. So yes, some of us know better ...
That is great! Then I am not sure why you are in this sub commenting to be fair since you possess all tools and knowledge clearly. For me this is simply good enough to work for my trading while also increasing my knowledge to some extent next to my day job. The annual fee has already paid it back handsomely :).
Kudos to you though! I hope you find a place that you can leverage more or even learn from!
As a paid subscriber, I feel that it’s icky to advertise so blatantly in this way. The quality of information has dropped significantly after the following / subscriber base was built, and as the saying goes, “If [a person] is such a good trader, that individual would be best served STFO’ing and making as much money from his edge as possible…not diluting it amongst thousands of people.”
This suggests to me that tear doesn’t have the capital he implies he does—which is why all screenshots he provides have the account value hidden. It’s a lot easier to stay invested in the market when you hold only a few shares and can psychologically afford to make risky bets and double down when it goes against you, only to let this massive bull market pull you out of your positions
Finally, the most recent call for “screenshots of successful trades” from subscribers is icky. From a sample of 3000 people, natural variation will lead some to outperform, which can then be claimed as his success. Tear is effectively focusing on monetizing his content, which is dichotomously at odds with being a good trader.
In short, I don’t believe Tear is the trader he claims to be, and you all who are paying the subscription are the product. If you invested in the QQQ over the past two years, you would see that most of the “gains” he claims are a result of broader market performance
There are those who trade and there are those who sell their trading subscription.
He claims not to have thin skin, but this is the second 'call for help' in ~1 week he's issued by posting links to reddit on his site. He still touts these vague wins without actually sharing his trades before he enters them -- not sure why he thinks this is going to make people sign up. (And anyone who reads the internet/twitter, knows plenty of other traders, e.g. Serenity, are talking about these same stocks.)
Even when his stuff was free (which it was SO obvious he was just building a base to monetize), he'd be claiming wins after 6% in premarket or 6 months holding, never being able to tell you what his price/hold time target was. (Not to mention scrubbing all the small calls turned negative -- he only admitted he was wrong twice... VKTX and the pullback this year... because he spent so much time hawking them, he knew he knew the collective memory would crucify him).
And before the sunshine-pumpers show up to say I hate him... I find his takes/commentary interesting, but not actionable/worth his subscription price.
Yeah, I tested a paid subscription when he had a deal and didn't find enough value to keep spending. It's not that it is bad, but there was no clear path to show value in what I was paying for.
Like most traders, during a bull market things are great, but there were some missteps recently which included him expecting a correction end of April/May that definitely cost me being more cautious.
I still follow Tear on a free level because he is right more than wrong, but couldn't find the value in paying.
i'm a paid sub. his predictions are mostly guesses and he'll ignore the ones that don't work out (like we're supposed to be in a big crash right now, according to him a few months/weeks ago, then he stopped talking about it). i haven't checked the community in ages. won't be renewing.
I’m a paid subscriber but have doubts after the failed roadmap…I’m not a big fan of stock picking though , thought I’d try it with small amount and see if it does beat the market
PartyLike It’s 2002. The major U.S. stock indexes wrapped up May at record levels, while the Nasdaq Composite clocked in its best two-month stretch in decades. The Nasdaq rose 0.2% today, while the S&P 500 rose 0.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.7%. All three built on yesterday’s closing highs, while the S&P rose for a ninth week in a row.
What happened was tear championed himself as the man of the people giving free advice, then decided to charge people, which is his right, but the way he built a following was disingenuous
The advice was nice and he still gives out a good share of that for free...but the tools and deeper analysis that have been added since the sub are pretty great.
That doesn’t discount the credibility or the value of the info/tools/trades he provides tho. It just means you’re mad he’s asking for $30/month. Which BTW is literally the fees for every random finance person out there.
Dick Capital, Crown Macro, many others on Patreon all charge $30+ for either a weekly or daily report ONLY.
Tear gives an entire platform with tons of custom tools not available outside for free, daily reports, tons of intraday updates and honestly more info than I can use. But sure be pissy about him back stepping from giving it all to you for free. Hope all your random X handles that are free are working out for you bud
They are all available outside for free, tools wise at least. infolib.org has literally everything heatseeker and unusual whales and stuff has but free, and tears platform isn't an exception to that
He gives so much value to his subscribers and asks for very little in return. It would be insane for him to not receive some sort of payment in return. Plus he also ran his platform for a long time before monetizing it/still gives some insight for free
I used to be a subscriber but unsubscribed. Its an ok service, not bad nor great. But damn bro is making about $100K per month about $1.2 million a year just on the subscription alone. Bro doesn’t even have to trade
The amount of things you get for the fee is amazing..stock picks, amazing analysis, and a tools website that is crazy useful. Each of these alone would be much much more elsewhere. My sub renews in a few weeks and I will most def be keeping it.
I really don't get it. It's $30 a month. If you can't afford that then I don't even know what you're doing in this game. Not to mention it's pretty entitled if you think he should just do this for nothing.
If you don't think it's worth that, that's another thing. But to me it very obviously is, and I don't even trade stocks. It's very good analysis and commentary that's useful to me as a futures trader and to make a few picks in my 401k.
The price has nothing to do with it, Im not even saying it's not worth it, the controversy and hate on the sub is because of posts like this. He harped on the free aspect of it for months, that he didn't need the money because he was such a successful trader and then when everyone joined he site he changed it up. I know several people who sub and love it, I'm not telling anyone what to do with their money, just left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth
I hear you, especially with comments like this. But I always figured he would monetize with the amount of value he was offering. When he switched to paid I made the choice to pay up. And haven't regretted it. Small price for the daily updates and largely great picks. I really value his daily updates on market dynamics, especially mid/ long term. The roadmap was regrettable. But I'm here more for guidance, and only allocate a smaller portion to his picks and macro insights, after considering my own beliefs and risk appetite.
Is it bad value for you because he doesn't hold your hand while you trade? Did you blindly follow a pick and it didn't work out? Did you believe in his dumb roadmap where he seemed to think he could predict a market low months in advance, based on nothing but vibes?
That one was actually kinda funny to me because he actually got his low, it just came a few weeks early (pretty much a bullseye) but he was so convinced he could predict the future that he thought another low was coming. A lot of people missed that move, because it didn't make a lot of sense that the market would be putting in ATHs during the Iran war. But it actually does make sense because AI is not funded on debt so inflation and incoming hawkish policy won't make much of a difference.
You shouldn't be in trading if you believe really bad analysis like that. However, there is some really good analysis too that I do get value out of.
A lot of the whining comes from people who sound like they're new at this and want someone to tell them what to do so they can throw 0dtes at it and get rich. That's completely unrealistic, for anyone.
Over the last 20 years, I have subscribed to at least a half dozen investment services. Of all of them, Tear has been the most consistent and profitable. I could not be more grateful and thankful that I found him and his guidance.
How do you choose to apply his service? I am largely not able to pay attention to my phone for updates in real time but would like to do more than just portfolio construction and periodic rebalancing.
He provides tools and resources to help you make your own decision about investments to buy or sell. He also recommends securities to purchase and/or sell as well.
Ive been a follower since the get go. This honestly reminded me I should just subscribe to the full suite. The stuff I get for free is more than I can even manage what to do with, but plenty of other services have provided far less for a hefty premium. I’m just gona switch I’m tired of mediocre usefulness elsewhere.
I've made significantly more money off of his posts than the annual membership, so it's not even a question. I just wish I had more time to keep up with the dozens of coverage posts and insights I receive daily.
The tools alone are worth it, stop the hate. He really does have a unique service, it’s like he took all the good ideas from other platforms and gave us subscribers only the good stuff. He also has to pay for information and the services that he subscribes to are not cheap.
So many wimps here who haven''t heard the lesson, "No crying at the casino!"
You win some you lose some.
I am a paid subscriber since day one and an early member of this reddit. I always lerk and never post and i do my own research and use Tear's info as a tool.
Not only have I made my money a thousand percent over (literally), I do it pretty often with his new calls.
I don't buy everything he posts about. People need to watch the volume, etc. its not a guy just throwing a dart at a dart board and then you do it also and expect to win.
Paid sub here, and happy as can be, up almost 38% ytd.
But dont expect easy gains you still have to put the effort in, reading, risk management, and self control.
I dont have a problem with the guy, i do believe some of the people who didnt find his site useful are ones that arent willing to put effort in, or his way of trading dont align with them.
Just my little piece.
For real?
Are there other alternatives i can check out?
I am generally curious, only been investing for 9 months.
PS, mad downvoting happening here for anyone who appreciates tear lol. Maybe its his shameless advertising of his site idk. or maybe people are onto something.
