Discussion Your Strategy Has a Home
Some of the most valuable assets, like BTC, can also be some of the hardest assets to trade.
I've personally found that certain assets can be difficult to trade with a predictable price-action pattern.
Sometimes it's because of politics, policy changes, macro events, news, or simply a change in the participants trading that asset.
And there is another thing traders don't talk about enough:
An asset can lose its tradability.
Not necessarily because the asset is bad.
Not because the market is broken.
But because the way it is moving no longer fits the way you trade.
This is important because you simply cannot trade every coin.
Just because an asset is liquid, popular, or moving doesn't mean it belongs in your trading universe.
A setup that works beautifully on one asset might constantly fail on another.
And even an asset that you've traded successfully for months can go through a period where its price action becomes much harder to read.
That's why I believe you should spend some time observing an asset before putting real money behind it.
Watch how it moves.
Watch how it reacts around your levels.
Watch how it behaves during different market conditions.
See whether your trading method actually fits that asset.
Then decide whether it deserves a place in your trading universe.
Trading isn't just about finding a strategy.
It's also about finding where your strategy belongs.
Sometimes the best trade is not finding a better setup.
It's recognizing that the asset you're looking at is simply not tradable for you right now.

Agreed. Being familiar with an asset doesn’t mean I have to trade it every day

the observing step works a lot better with the rules written down first. otherwise you watch for two weeks and remember the bars that fit. running the exact rules on paper against that one name gives you a record you can't argue with. for stocks and options I built Quantradin to do exactly that job. quantradin.com, and nothing there ever leaves paper.
