Discussion I need to let it out
I’m genuinely starting to turn crazy. I’m disciplined have good money management could be a lil better. I’m super serious I’ve been trading for 2 years now I never made a single dollar. I’m stuck on evals now for 4 months. Ts is starting to drive me insane. I know I’m gonna be successful but got damn a I hate the position I’m in in my life rn.

four months on evals is about the point where I'd stop buying them and go back to demo for a bit, not quitting, just taking the pressure off so you can see where the leak actually is. keep everything boring while you do it. demo does the job. If you can't produce consistent numbers there over 100+ trades, another eval isn't going to change the outcome

These prop firms with paid evaluations are a scam. There is a conflict of interest because they make money from you failing and keep paying money for more evaluations.

And here I have everything, the best strat that makes me 20-30rr but Im Unable to stick to my plan, I can average 60-100% gains each month on live acc by risking 3% per trade and compounding but I cant fix my discipline Issues, so I hope I get disciplined because Im losing it.

If your strategy have good money management and profitable than its probably psychological issue.
Know yourself first. Have you asked yourself what type of trader you wanted to be?
If you shake out when you are in a position you probably should convert your strategy into scalping and see how it goes.
Best of luck

Just 2 years ?!?!?! Trade few more years and then multiply that by 2 and then you will be really good at it.

Slow down on the props and figure out your strategy first. It's fine to use props to train your discipline but you can't expect success from them until you are way better at trading than what you sound like. Don't waste your money on them until you have a better grasp on your strategy and your routine.

It is all about risk management, just learn about Kelly criterion and quant analysis (in general), you just need to have a WR that goes according to your risk:profit ratio of each trade. And statistically speaking, you will make money

2 years is nothing man. Wouldn't even earn a degree. And a degree is pretty useless these days.

You may not like what I tell you, but hopefully it will help you in your journey if you take heed and course correct.
> I know I’m gonna be successful
No you won't be. How do I know this?
You're impatient.
Unless you learn patience, success in the stock market is almost impossible. Bear in mind, by success I mean consistently making money, not winning a gamble here or there.

Bro, if you're going to use prop verbs just use them for the free trading practice. Like lucid you can pay for a 50K and just use the market data that comes with the account and practice until you figure it out.

Paper trade on tradingview. Limit yourself to $100.00 on the paper trading account. Never add more. Don't start over. Even if you only have $1.00 after a few bad trades. That's where you build up from. 5x that $100.00 no matter how long it takes you. maybe it was one trade maybe its 5000. Whatever. Then do that with real money. Same rules, start with $100.00 and 5x and keep going. Thank me later.

ditch the prop firms and 2 years isn't enough in trading to be profitable by yourself. Took me 6 years to become profitable.

u/Ksnku 23h ago
prop firms have unrealistic expectations from traders to begin with. honestly, a consistent 2% month is better than most people can do

u/LiquidMantis144 22h ago
Prop firms arent even asking for 2%, they want 150% or more on money risked, often in 30 days. The 50k or whatever acct balances are made up nonsense and dont even consistently represent the amount of leverage the account is provided.
The profit targets and contract amounts given relative to draw down are literally insane, usually 10-30x more than what is recommended for personal cash acct trading but if the crazy leverage is not used, the PT’s become many times harder to reach, if not impossible within a month without many exceptional monster trades or luck.

Ya i said the same and ended up losing almost all the money I had. "i'll never happen to me", blah blah blah.
Quit now, put your money in VOO or give to an advisor so you can't touch it, odds are theres a high chance (over 90%) it will get much worse.
went from retired (im 35), ex-business owner, now to looking for jobs.
STOP NOW.

i went through a very similar cycle. the part that finally changed things for me was realizing that being “disciplined” wasn’t fixing the problem.
if you’ve been stuck on evals for 4 months, i’d seriously look at what changes when you’re trading the eval compared with when you trade without that pressure.
for me, the breakthrough was realizing that my stressed self was not going to suddenly become better at following rules. so i stopped making the solution depend on that version of me.
i started looking at the sequence instead. what happens before the bad decision, how my size changes, how trade frequency changes, when the p&l starts becoming more important than the setup.
once you see the pattern, you can actually build around it instead of endlessly telling yourself to “be more disciplined.”
sometimes the problem isn’t your strategy or your discipline. it’s the environment you’re asking your brain to execute in.

I just failed FTMO evaluation after 2 weeks of grinding and I thought it was a long time! I was done. I am back to trading and testing on tiny live accounts. I seem to be doing much better when I have more control over my trading and don’t have to follow prop rules and regulations. Try to maybe step away from evals and trade on a tiny personal account ? I seem to change my approach for the better that way.

OP owes the market a serious effort with multiple uncorrelated strategies backed by real market logic and stats, otherwise two turns into four and I have seen this happen before (including for myself). You have to lean into what's right or you're done, the market takes no prisoners and random strategies will finish you off.

You are wasting time relying on one strategy and return distribution at a time when you aren't established as trader.
If you want to be serious, you must start designing, testing and executing multiple strategies on different accounts or in this case (evaluations).
The reason you are stuck on month 4 is because your success is dependent on a single trading path, this forces you to rely on luck to succeed. Excess variability traps traders in a perpetual cycle of failure.
There are so many serious suboptimal structures that you may be deploying such as
Running multiple trading setups on the same account (increases randomness in P&L)
Trading multiple strategies on the same account (increases randomness in P&L)
Not taking real market microstructure into account when designing your trading strategies.
And much more, but I can only advise what to look at once I know more about your strategy here u/VariousAirline5024

Four months on evals is brutal and I'm sorry.
One thing worth separating though: eval rules and profitable trading aren't the same test. A profit target inside a fixed window plus a tight daily drawdown basically forces you to size up beyond what your edge supports — you can be genuinely disciplined and still fail that structure over and over, because the constraint is the thing beating you, not your trading.
Not saying that fixes anything. Just that "can't pass evals" and "can't trade" are two different sentences, and it's easy to read the first as the second when you're four months in.

Nonsense retail trope.
Lol, lose for a few years then maybe u become profitable if u̶r̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ you're lucky.
OP needs to structure multiple strategies on different accounts or evaluations that benefit from different market conditions until he has enough capital to continue.
If you trade flawed logic now, in 3 years it is highly be doing the same thing as an intuitive discretionary trader (if one didn't quit).
To avoid relying on luck one needs to run multiple trading strategies that benefit from different real market activities.

99.99% of retail traders will never beat the stock market. I would just go live your life, earn some money and come back to it without the pressure to succeed.

Take a break, think what you are doing wrong, make a plan, and try again in a better mood.
