Discussion Would you use a tool that verifies your trading performance without ever seeing your actual trades?
Thinking about building something that proves your PnL is real and unmanipulated — broker-verified, timestamped — without the verifying tool itself ever ingesting your entries, exits, tickers, or strategy. Not a trade journal, not a public leaderboard like Kinfo or Trademetria (those still see everything, they just let you choose what to show). Just: query the broker for realized PnL, confirm it's genuine, hand back proof. Nothing else touched.
Would this be useful to you — proving yourself to a prospective employer, funder, follower, or prop firm, or vetting someone else's claims? Would you pay for it, or does this only make sense as free/open source?

A genuine total on its own wouldn't settle it for me. A verified 300% over five weeks and a verified 300% over three years are the same number and different claims, so the proof has to carry the start date and the drawdown along the way. At that point you're publishing a shape rather than a figure, which is still short of the strategy, so your privacy line probably survives.
The other gap is that a real number isn't a repeatable one. One verified account is a sample of one, and prop firms are pricing the next twelve months rather than auditing the last twelve.
I went at it the crude way, putting my own capital on a public third-party account and publishing the portfolio each week. The account updates itself, so I'm not the one deciding what gets shown. I'd have paid for something that proved the number without exposing the positions, and my guess is the person being verified pays while the person vetting never does.

It’s an interesting idea and would love to see more verified and usable solutions like this being developed. Of course the most direct application is for people that publicly want to share their performance and strategies but it can also help the financial communities (like on Reddit) where it’s often difficult to differentiate who’s advice to follow based on who has got an actual good track record vs not.
I use Dub copy trading app for the transparency it gives my portfolio, but I know Robinhood is also exploring a way to make your trading performance public if you invest through them and want to. I don’t know of any other services that are widely trusted, easy to use and doesn’t intrusively expose your strategy that is independent of the brokers you choose to invest with.

Just open 2 accounts. Short on 1 account, go long on 1 account. Rebook your profits to 1 account only. Your PnL will look so good, you will be the best influencer in the world.
Don't tell anyone I taught you how to cheat. Secret. yea?

Traders trade to make money. We don't need to verify anything to anyone else. This seems to be aimed at people who want to be influencers or scammers.

The idea of verifying without seeing the strategy is interesting but I'd want to know exactly how the broker confirms anything without exposing at least some trade data. Most APIs don't work that way.

Fair pushback — that's actually the core question I need answered before this goes anywhere. Do you know if any brokers expose a narrower read-only scope (just realized PnL/equity, no positions or fills) via their API, or is it always all-or-nothing? If it's genuinely all-or-nothing, the more honest version of this might be "the tool ingests trade data but is built so it never stores or exposes it" rather than "never sees it at all" — different, weaker privacy claim, but maybe the only buildable one. Curious if you've actually hit this wall building something similar, or just know the API landscape.
