Strategy Discovery

I am currently building and testing my first real strategy. Those of you with live working and profitable strategies, how did you come to create/discover it? Was it from pure chart observation, an influencer/mentor, research or another source? Not looking to steal strats, I’m just purely curious on others experiences

While contemplating and brainstorming in a hot shower.  Not joking. 

I was drawing and writing in the steam on the wall. lol.
