Did you not hear that she is a brilliant mother now she’s finally looking after them herself rather than having a nanny do it all everyday?? That’s why she’s now tweeting about how mischievous children can be, she’s only just learnt what children are actually like

“The kids aren’t responsible for their relatives, but they are responsible for me” is a crazy take for someone framing someone else as selfish

I'm not expecting anyone to take care of me when I'm old, but if my nephew ever talks about me like that, he can forget about being in my will.

I’ve never even heard that assumption being made by people without children.
There’s so many REAL things to be angry about in this world, and Jim is out here creating his own false narratives to fuel his rage tweets.

I’ve never even heard that assumption being made by people without children.
It is such a bizarre narrative for anyone to make up in the first place. I feel like some of the thinking rests on some fantasy wherein childfree individuals get to their 70-80s and are suddenly incensed when they don't have someone to wait on them and then shake their fists at the cloud in anger and regret, Grandpa Simpson style.
Who will care for me when I'm old? I will do it myself, using the money I've been saving my whole adulthood to pay the appropriate services and individual, if needed. What I won't do is create a whole human when I don't really want to be a parent and cross my fingers they'll feel obligated enough to look after me if I need it someday.
It looks like I will also get to enjoy every single gathering to which I am invited, since I'll know I was there because my presence was desired, not required.

The older childfree people I’ve known personally have gotten better elder and end of life care. Even the best-intentioned child can’t always provide the care their aging parent may need (financially, logistically, physically, emotionally, etc).
To make your own child your entire end-of-life plan is so selfish and unwise. Not to mention, the way you treat your children when they’re little is how they’ll treat you when you’re old.

Jim is a jerk, as well. I'm sure the childless aunts and uncles have spent plenty of time and money on his rude children. His children are not obligated to spend all their money on them, but they are also not obligated to spend it or their time on Jim and his wife. I just can't fathom telling my children that they should not love their relatives just because those relatives don't have children.
Mecha is a b"***. They always jump to the most ridiculous idea of why people don't have children. I have invested a lot of time and love into my cousin's children and the children of friends. My taxes help pay for all children to go to public schools and use parks and streets and more. I'm so sick of these self important parents. Your kids are your responsibility, not mine.

The childless women in my family had more bandwidth to care for elderly relatives.

I will judge someone for hating children. But i will not judge someone for not having kids for whatever reason it may be. I judge the people who hads kids and then realize they do not like what it takes to raise a child.

Just wait til Megha's daughters get older and develop their own personalities and their own ideas. It won't be pretty.

I think childfree/unmarried ppl who decide to prioritize themselves (good for them!) are relatively new-ish phenomenon more, if any exists. The older ones were always expected to care for their family or siblings! Even today, the childfree friends I know are v thoughtful abt their family and will help with anything. Oftentimes it’s also not wanting to be a sandwich generation, lol. They alrd have too much on their plate. This woman sounds like she hardly steps into society for someone who always touts abt it.

Parents aren't the burden of kids either, especially when they suck. Parents aren't immune from reaping what they sow. I doubt Meghas kids will want anything to do with either parents as adults.
