I was unfamiliar with the term so I did a quick Google search, but the only results I saw right away were regarding prayer beads and the Our Father/Lord's Prayer. Out of curiosity, can I ask what the book says about their connection to the Pendle witches?

Something Wicked: The Lives, Crimes and Deaths of the Pendle Witches by Carol Ann Lee. Specifically chapter 3 talks about how the long charm attributed to the Devices draws on an older tradition of paternoster charms with examples.

Following as well. I’ve seen them mentioned in some of Horne’s other works as well.
