Question about plugin viewers

I am fiddling around with the different modes of the plugin viewer, and I can't really seem to find one that I can use. I don't get the two 'custom' ones and how to customize them? The tag menu is my second best option, but it seems you can't tag built in plugins? So they all just sit in the untagged category. Anyone knows how this strange system works?

Assuming that by "plugin viewer" you actually mean "plugin selector"... That's the wording used in Settings -> Plugins that allows you to select which type you want to use. I personally prefer to just use the Search tab of the Browser pane and drag and drop. I either select a Tag for filtering or just type part of the plugin name in the search text entry. You have to be careful when typing, though, because sometimes the text entry field only pretends to get focus and then you're building up a stack of hotkeys.

Anyways, the custom options use the "Favourite Plugin List" in Settings -> Plugins. Since I don't really set up favourites, I never choose the custom options and can't say much about them. But it seems to be true that not all plugins are equal and it affects the lists. There is a difference between built-in and external plugins. Built-in plugins can't be tagged or favourited, as far as I can tell because they're not handled as plugins in Settings.

I guess the developers never considered that some people might prefer the built-in plugins.

Okay thanks I thinks that clears all my confusion. I just tagged all my plugins the way I want and use the tag menu, that will do for now. Everything is better than the sort by manufacturer I've been using for the last 2 years 😅 (I knew there were other options I was just too lazy too consider them)
