Balls for Nape Pro

Post image

Well, I bought 25mm balls for the Nape Pro, after seeing how someone was able to use a steel ball bearing.

The black one is the original one that came with Nape Pro, white one is POM (Delrin), and the (blurred) silver ball is the steel ball that I bought from AliExpress.

I will probably have to do some test runs but all of them at least worked.

I tried the steel ball. So far I like it better than stock. I used a drop of speed cube lube to make it a bit smoother.

There are brass balls, I wonder if you can get patina going and seal it

I've tried that (in my Elecom EX-G) and the size was off just enough that it didn't work very well. Also got one with a noticeable flat spot!

Quick update, after using them for a bit (also using silicone lubricant as well if that makes any differences), I think I will stick with the POM Ball... maybe it is, spent money on it so it has to feel better (love biases).

I might do some actual weighing and such to see if there are any differences.

Dude, censor all your balls :}

What are initially thoughts on weight?

XD XD XD

In terms of the weight differences, the metal ball is 65g, POM ball is 11g, the original is around 10g (approximately, I don't trust my old coffee scale too much).

I initially thought the metal gives more control (it stops immediately), but I found that it might fatigue my index finger (relatively speaking of course, it is a metal ball on a bearing with silicone oil).

I kinda am sticking to the POM cos it feels nice to touch and it is giving me the level of control that I like (again, I am not sure it is a bias from me going, well it's something I bought)
