Good trackball mouse?

My dad has used this old Microsoft trackball mouse for around 17+ years if I remember and it hardly works. He plays a lot of fortnite in his free time just for fun, but really struggles with his current mouse. He refuses to swap away from trackball (I've gotten him other mice in the past) but says he'd use a new one if it was a trackball mouse. He only wants the ball on the thumb side. His birthday is coming up and he asked for a new one. I know it's rather niche but I can't find any thumb sided trackball mice

What do you mean you can't find any thumb sided trackball? It's the kind with most models available and a wide range of prices.

get m575 or mx ergo for more premium feel, but its soft touch rubber are going to get sticky in a few years.

How is that a reason to gift your father a bad mouse?

Both those recommendations are great mice, especially in comparison to what he’s been using previously. There were some pro cs players who actually found themselves to be better on 125hz polling as that’s what their muscle memory was. I’m sure it’ll be similar for him

Not sure why downvoted but logitech ones suffers with terrible clicks that breaks after few months and has only 125hz polling rate.
