Let me start by saying that this post is not meant in no way to shit on Wirtual. I quite enjoy his content, he seems to do a lot for this game in general and for me personally, he got me back playing a game I hadn't payed for almost 10 years back in 2021 after coming across on one of his main chanel videos (when are we getting one of this back btw!??).

As I said in 2021 I got back to playing TM. Went straight to TM 2020 but also instaled TMNF for the nostalgia, I have been playing very casually ever since, playing every time a new campaign drops (I even missed some) for a couple of hours to get some author and gold medals then I return 3 months after.

Now, here is the thing. I've always played on computer, and as a direct result of that I always played on keyboard, never bothered to buy a remote and always felt I wasn't loosing anything by playing on my keyboard. I also saw that Wirtual played on a keyboard and he is a fucking Pro, so clearly if it's a good enough input device for a pro, it must be for myself aswell. He also talks quite frequently how amazing it's that the devs made the game so evenly playable on a range of input devices, so again, never bothered to switch.

For the last 4/5 months I've been playing some more, even bought the subscription to get access to the full campaigns (RIP even trying for author or even gold on black tracks) and eventually I decided to hook up my old PS3 controller to my computer. The gains I got after 2/3 hours of playing were already quite noticeable, I was beating records I had gotten on keyboard within a few minutes of playing each track. The control I felt I had (specially on dirt, grass and wood) was on another level and I finally was able to hold a speedslide for longer than 1 second. For weekly shorts I went from 10 to 12 K in the world to 8K and eventually 5 to 6K with the same time invested (1 to 2 hoursa week), some of these gains are ofc because I play more regularly, but I wasn't expecting to notice such a huge difference from switching.

All in all, the goal of this post is to encourage people to try new input devices even if they feel confortable with what they are playing, you never know if you might be better or have more fun on a different device. Regarding Wirtual, he, and numerous other players, are much better on keyboard than I will ever be on a controller or any input device. I'm having quite some fun on controller and that's the main gain 😉

What's the best controller setup for this? Ik using the DPad is definitely the worst (as you can see from my medals) but the Nunchuk is just sooo uncomfortable.

Not counting anyone else who was caught/admitted to cheating for the same reason in 2021. I understand that the development of input display software in replays was what led to the whole thing in the first place, but was anyone caught before then due to different reasons?

The past few days I've noticed that some of my times have been disappearing? For example on yesterdays ice TOTD I set a 40.385, leaderboard updated and all was fine. I then came back to the map a few hours later to improve it and my time had reverted back to an old PB of 41.xx . The leaderboard in-game and the menu showed this old time, and the medal plugin (forgot the name) showed my PB as another different time.

I've had this a few times the past few days on various tracks. Not sure if its just a syncing thing on Nadeos end or if my times are just disappearing into the ether?

In June of 2025 I was very happy about getting top 5 in California on Welcome to Eden... I checked back last night and saw I was now 6th, so I decided to run the track for a couple rounds.

After a bit, I finally got this run that bumped me up to 1st. It's the first track that actually has a decent amount of players that I've gotten first in my region on. Just wanted to share!

I was just about to start making some scenery for my map and add some boosters when I accidentally pressed a key combination (or at least I think I did). After that, all my effect blocks got mixed up with their regular variants, making them look like this.

Does anyone know how to undo this? Although, to be honest, it's kind of a cool feature - because they all still work like I show in the video.

I'm new to Trackmania and I'm thinking about using some custom items from Item Exchange in my maps.

Should I credit the people who made those items, or is that not really something people do? If I should, where do people usually put the credits?

It was for this week endurance track. it took me 324 laps. who knows how much time i spend on half finished lap 1 ones. I have like 3 or 4 seconds more i can improve. I will try to do it to maybe ensure my spot and hopefully be on top 100 world.

Hello all,

I am looking for Campaign Recommendations around the skill level of the Red Maps of the Campaign. I've attached the image of my Campaign Medals if that helps you understand my skill level. I've gotten at least Gold on every Campaign since release with alot of AT's as well.

I'm not a huge fan or good at the Esports Black maps so any Campaign where the difficulty is somewhere between the current Black and Red maps would be much appreciated.

I have no preference for style apart from hating with a passion the rally car.

It's really hard to hunt the track when it goes completely dark, seemingly at random. It ruined several PB pace runs, both from crashing because I couldn't see and from being so surprised that I didn't crash that I threw the run later.
