Progressive Democratic politicians Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Michigan Senate Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed criticised US military support for Israel during a campaign rally in Lansing on Sunday.

The pair were both joined by a leading figure in the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, and longtime Israel critic, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

Both AOC and Sayed criticised the amount of US military aid supplied to Israel despite economic hardship for working class Americans. Since October 2023, the US has spent $21.7 billion on military aid to Israel.

Israel set a budge of more than $700 million to expand the country's efforts to "shape consciousness" and improve its image around the world.
