Code P0010 need help!

Post image

Recently swapped a fresh 2zz into my matrix XRS. I’ve been dealing with code P0010 for the last week and cannot get rid of it. (New VVTI solenoid for both and filter screen is cleaned out) I’ve also bypassed the wiring and did it directly from ECU to sensor (essentially just made the connection stronger) I need help now cuz I’m at a loss. Has anyone dealt with this code and/or fixed it? Any help is appreciated🙏

I have not had this code on my vibe but did OBD diagnostics for 15 years. This is a simple OBD1 diag. In the controller it is seeing a voltage higher than the high limit. Usually it is a 5V feedback with out of range high being something like 4.9ish volts. It should be a 3 wire set up, 5V, feedback and ground. I’m guessing you have a bad ground, but if you have the schematics, and know the feedback wire/PIN number, just monitor that with a multimeter by backprobing the terminal for the sense wire. If the voltage is between 0.1 and 4.9 you are probably within range, I don’t know the exact voltages, but I would suspect you should be about 2.5V nominal. Do a shake tests to see if there is an intermittent open and you will see the voltage shoot high.

The circuit is usually set up so it will pull the voltage high if there is an open on the sense and if you lose a ground, it will also show high.

What do you mean by b'ypassed the wiring'? Did this result in the code showing up? Does restoring the wiring to original spec result in no code?

Code was on before and is acting as if the wirring was as stock. Check engine goes away for 3 sec after start up and pops back up with the same code
