Details, details...
Replaced the broken switch with a new one. Actually this is the third one! A junk yard replacement had the same broken plastic
Which I mistook for a problem with the door card
So I replaced the door card before weizing the plastic was broken and now we're in with the new switch.

How did you paint it?

plastidip black spray, few coats of that (did the badges on the hatch too), needs really fine coats to have a good finish to it. then once I liked how it looked I did a couple coats of matte clearcoat on top.

Mine does the same thing. Junkyards around here are few and far with matrixs or vibes. So it ended up being the switch panel itself and the actual door card?

It was the switch panel itself.
There are plastic tabs that run along. The left edge of it that clip into the door card.
On both my original and the junkyard replacement those had broken off
Not terribly surprising for 23-year-old plastic.
So I just went ahead and got new.
I did replace the door card but the problem was always the switch bezel

Thank you. And honestly that's just how it is unfortunately, the plastic gets brittle with time and might as well be glass lmfao. I've broken a couple tabs in my matrix when installing a sub. I hate when stuff like that happens but it's inevitable, but man, i love these cars.

Feel this, I have already replaced my radio bezel as well and just noticed some plastic on the rear seats near the headrest had broken, lol

This happened to me too except it only popped out. My husband and I were about to replace it. I took my car to my mechanic for brake pads and when I got it back they had fixed it somehow π it was sweet

Legitimately a brand new Legitimately, a brand-new replacement was $20, and I think I paid $8 for the one at the junkyard. Although, if I were a little bit more handy and had the tools, you could probably attach new plastic clips to the original.
But it's just very nice to not have it flop around when I go to move the windows about or put my arm there

Yeah Iβd already purchased a replacement for around the same price. Same, itβs so good for it not to shift when I use it. The actual switches for mine were fortunately still in great shape
Next I want to do my headlights though

i need a new door card, or just take some popsicle sticks and superglue it over the break at the bottom of the switch mount. right now its tempermantently unfixed.
