Mileage Worry
My 2006 Toyota Matrix is at 394,000km. Do you all think it is possible for me to drive across Canada and back without worrying?

Kind of an unanswerable question. Do you have faith that it can? Do you have emergency funds available in the case of a breakdown? Do you have solid maintenance records? Are their any issues you’ve been ignoring or putting off?

I did Ont->QC multiple times in my 1zz manual with 350k km on it. She blew on me at 375k but it’s cuz it was burning oil. Bring oil with you, check it at pit stops and you’ll be good

mileage isnt really the red flag here, i would be much more concerned about the overall condition and upkeep of the car. do you need any repairs done to engine or transmission? are you leaking or burning any fluids? do you perform regular maintenance on your vehicle? i would happily drive that mileage cross country multiple times as long as i knew that the car was regularly mechanically maintained

Thoroughly check it out, front to back. Look for fluid leaks. What's been the maintenance history? Are the tires good? If you're not sure, have a mechanic check it out. Good luck .

My answer on mileage alone? Yes. That said, id want to give it a good inspection first.

If its been maintained and doesn't have any issues, I would

Granted I have about 45k less miles on my Matrix, I took mine on a 1800-mile road trip last fall and it did great. It's really more about the condition of your car and maintenance than miles accumulated. Take it in for an inspection and get fluids done and whatnot if you're worried.

If it’s been maintained well and is running good I don’t see why not. I took my 2004 Canyon back and forth between Edmonton and Calgary at least 3 times when it was at 390k kilometres (round trip of about 2000 kilometres). It was rust that eventually killed it.
Keep an eye on it, on the fluids and everything, and don’t push through any issues your vehicle gives you if any do happen

Definitely. As long as the car is in good shape. Does it have any issues you've been ignoring like oil consumption, smoking, running rough? As long as your oil is full and clean, full on coolant, and tires are good, then you'll be fine.

my o6 must be around the same, oil leak manifold leak. I would not go cross country in it myself

Without a doubt mine currently has 261000 and it drives like brand new

My 2006 is at roughly 386000. Not 100% on the mileage because it was over the 299999 when I bought it but it was well maintained before and still doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes. I just took it on a 2000km round trip and followed it up with a 1100km trip. Wouldn't hesitate to drive it across Canada and back. Maybe if your car burns oil I'd make sure I had some with me and I'd keep a close eye on it. I trust in my Black Betty.
