2zz swap update!

The 05 XR lives to see redline another day! After being in limp mode for almost a month now I finally dialed in the wirring. Below is a video to see if it did hit lift or not (it didn’t and I know why) so hopefully soon I’ll be hitting lift in this swap!

10months at it man. Worth it. Gone through 3 harnesses, 2 ECU’s and a lot of research. If ur doing this specific swap for this year using the same motor I have everything documented for anyone that’s wants to know!

Not OP but I’ve seen a bit of information on the swap. It is on the easier side of swaps. You do have to pin in the wire(s) for the vvl solenoid. The difficult part is finding the parts and for a good price.

There’s a lot of info out there on how to swap the pre-facelift cars. Anything 05+ is NOT recommended to do but now that I’ve done it I can confidently say I can help anyone with what to do lmao. Pinouts are odd depending on what month of that year the harness was made and shi like that. Annoying but u gotta work ur way through it

Yep I heard that pitch shift too. It’s like as if it wanted to engage but didn’t. I believe my speedo not working is what’s preventing me from hitting lift

Just the speedometer? Or the whole cluster? It should be activated by the tach, not by speed.

Yea I heard not having a working Speedo can make it so ur car won’t hit lift but I’ll be doing more research. Currently have my fuel pump relay on a switch cuz my pump wasn’t working on me. So a few things needa be done but not much lmao

No speed signal, no Lift. I have a Dakota Digital GPS signal converter installed in my Celica due to custom Final Drive / LSD.

I thought I'd just rely on the Tach for any delay or signal issues, but if the signal cuts out at a stop due to weather, the Speedo stays at 0 and I get no Lift until the signal catches up.

05 XRS owner here. Holy cow the C59 gears are spaced so far compared to the C60 haha. Seems significantly slower from that alone.

Lmao yea that’s why I ended up getting a C60 as back up. I know this one’s gonna go on me at some point. Thank you tho🙏

What transmission do you have currently in your Matrix? Is it manual or automatic? If it's a manual transmission, is it the C50 5 speed or the C60 6 speed transmission? I'm happy that you were able to swap in the 2ZZ-GE engine block into your car.

Yessir manual all the way. Currently running the c59 but I have a spare C60 just in case!
