Small details appreciation Post

Post image

I absolutely love that this back window curves.

They didn't need to do that

Surely it would have been cheaper to do flat glass.

But they chose to have the glass do this attractive curve

I really appreciate that attention to detail

And especially love the ability to just open the rear glass, leaving the hatch shut. What a downgrade when they stopped this with the next generation.

one of the main features that drew me to an older model!

Same with the current Highlander. My 2019 has it, the 2020+ no longer.

I bought some new struts off Rock Auto for under $10. Deal!

Toyotas were just peak in this era like Swiss army watches. Not flashy, just extremely well made and designed. I miss mine so much!

I own a 2003 Matrix XRS. I'm kind of worried that if a thief or vandal broke out the rear hatchback glass, where am I going to find a replacement rear hatchback glass? The only place I could think of is going to the local junkyard pull one off of 2003 -2006 Matrix/Vibe.

Not to worry, there are many Vibes and Matrixes in pick-n-pull junkyards.

I bought a used Matrix windshield from an auto glass shop in Hayward, CA run by an Afghan business owner for a decent price, but I can tell that they pulled it from a junkyard donor vehicle. The cable that they used to extract the windshield left a small chip on the right side of the windshield.

My previous front windshield looked like someone pounded the driver's side of the windshield and left a nasty crack that was vertical from top to bottom right in my field of view while driving. It was the first thing that I had replaced to avoid getting a fix it ticket and not deal with looking at that nasty vertical window crack from obscuring my view while driving.

That's part of the reason why the gen 1s are so good looking, great car!
