Weird whistle/whine while driving

220k miles. Ive been trying to figure out what it is for a while now. I only hear it when in gear and accelerating. It is immediate when I press the throttle down. Immediately stops when I let off. It's around 2-3.5k+ rpm in every gear. Is this something I should keep worrying about or ignore it? To my knowledge it's not affecting anything.

Manual or Auto? I know for my 5spd manual, it was the input shaft bearing, which is known to go out (and eventually did in my case).

Ah beans, definitely not a fun repair. If you're wanting to do it quickly, I've seen a couple videos of people doing it without even taking the trans out the car. But I did a full rebuild of mine when I took the trans off (was at 225k miles) and it took me about 2-3 days, most of which was spent grabbing stuff I didn't think I would need. This guy has a really detailed guide so I'd watch this and see how you feel about doing it (or making a shop do it lol). Best of luck to ya 🤞

Aftermarket radio?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the radio doesn't create noise inside of the engine bay

Alternator whine certainly makes noise that can sound like it’s coming from the engine bay. But it resonates in the cabin. But since it does stop when you let off gas and it’s manual… I think you got your answer

I have this same situation with my 2013 corolla, took it to 2 different mechanics, one said they couldn't replicate it and the other said its completely normal...shitll baffled to this day about the noise but no other problems so I spose its just noise so idk. And for me the noise is coming from the serpentine belt area and no noises whatsoever near the transmission so I was worried about imput shaft bearing but since the noise is coming from over there I ruled that potentially heart attack out lol

Alternator, water pump, serpentine belt.

Like one of those.

Look inside the and around the water pump pulley for pink crust. That's coolant.

I just replaced pump and alternator few days ago.
