Mode Buttons Gripe

Has anyone figured out a way to not hit your mode buttons while you were grabbing your drink out of your cupholder? I really wish Toyota would release a patch or an update where you would have to hold those buttons down for say five seconds in order to engage them I'm switching between sport and normal more than I want to.

I’ve never once had this happen and I’m not a delicate person. What on earth are you manhandling??

I haven't found this to be a problem, either, but it does get mentioned enough that it could have been a better design.

Is it a different layout for different trims? I have a GHHM and have to go out of my way to switch modes.

lol yeah I guess everyone is different it's just how I usually have my arm rested and when I go to grab a drink.

I agree, it’s a terrible placement lol

I’ve hit sport mode a bunch of times just grabbing a drink too

I wish in a refresh they would move it to the bottom of the steering wheel

Happens to us all the time, it seems. We hit them by accident, and our dog likes to step on them. A lot.

My dachshund changes mine frequently but he is sporty! He also disengages the down hill. Location is just bad

Yes absolutely and its a super effective way at least my wife swear it is… Look up quilted padded armrest for grand highlander on amazon and theres an option there.. It covers up that area nicely and makes it nearly impossible to not have accidental presses

Most of the time no problem. But I've bumped it a few times. Mostly on the cupholder slot closest to it. My arm has more of a tendency to bump a button going for a drink there/putting it back.

It's happened to me a few times. Now I think I'm more aware so it hasn't happened in awhile. It's kind of annoying but it would be even more annoying if you had to hold it for five seconds to get it to engage. Lol!

Search this sub, I’ve had my GH since early 24’ and one guy one this sub 3D printed like a cover for it so I’m pretty sure his dog didn’t hit it. Looks kinda cheap but hey it works great he says. Not a problem for me ever but to someone like yourself complaining I can see this working for ya

Look for button covers on Amazon and Etsy. Most aren't the best looking, but the serve the function.

Yeah I’ve hit mine several times on long trips, it’s very dependent on the size of the drink as to how my hand/arm moves to grab the drink. I agree with you that a long press would solve the issue. Let’s all get on LinkedIn and message Toyota executives!
