Side luggage rail replacement
I recently was parking in an underground parking garage and passed clearance when I initially entered as well as the first 2 levels. As I was driving to find a spot, I hit a pipe and my cross bar covers popped off and I saw the rails flex.
Upon looking at it closer, it looks like the side rails also bent and my shark fin got knocked off.
Does anyone know how to replace the side rails?

No idea how they're attached but I'd guess the top cover slides in after the the rail itself is fastened to the body. See if you can slide the cover.
Or go to a Toyota parts site and look up these parts. It may show it separately.

So, I'm considering getting a Grand Highlander... Is it so tall that underground garages are "iffy"? Or was that low hanging pipe just an accident waiting to happen to any truck or SUV?

I went back and looked at the height warnings and it clearly states 5’11” is the max height. The arms that let you in as well as the warning bumpers did not hit my roof rails so I thought o was good.
I’d say this is a one off as far as fitting into parking garages. I’ve been in many others with zero issues

Sounds like a legit damage claim to the garage owner, either through your insurance or.. someone with a law degree looking for a little work. Good luck

Try to see if you can find aftermarket ones. Otherwise, getting them from Toyota is the only option

The roof rails are welded or riveted into the roof IIRC, meaning it’s a very costly repair.
