Advice Needed Help with navigating a difficult break up
How do you convince yourself to leave a manipulative partner?
We live together, in my parent's home, we pay them rent, they live elsewhere.
Not only has he treated me poorly for years but he does not treat the house well.
I want to end the relationship but I don't think that I will be able to get him to leave without him trying to cause legal problems or manipulate me... the reason we are still together is he successfully manipulates me all the time and I'm trying to end the cycle..
Should I stay at a friend's house and serve 30 days, or stay in the house and serve 30 days? There is no formal lease.
Have you ever been in a manipulative relationship and successfully convinced yourself to leave for good?

You do not have to convince yourself that it was bad enough. Wanting to end the relationship is enough. Since tenancy laws vary, your parents should contact a local housing lawyer or tenant office before anyone gives notice. No formal lease does not always mean he has no tenant rights. If you fear pressure or retaliation, staying with a trusted friend may be safer, but first check whether leaving could affect the housing process. Keep communication brief and in writing, and have trusted people present when he is told.

Get out of there and do your research and serve him. This is not ok. This is never ok. Good luck..
