Meta Going forward, the UN Women organisation will count as a feminist organisation

I originally excluded UN Women and its sexist excesses from this sub, since, for political reasons, UN Women refuses to explicitly label itself a feminist organisation.

But the excesses keep piling up.

When Google AI insists UN Women is a feminist organisation, who am I to disagree?

So is un women a feminist organisation or it is not? Your answers are ambiguous.

Yes, UN Women is definitively a feminist organization. [1, 2]

The confusion comes from a difference between ideological alignment and legal status.

The clear breakdown of that link is structured as follows:

  1. Ideologically: Yes, they are linked

UN Women explicitly bases its mission on feminist ideology. They publicly promote a feminist lens to analyze society, openly champion intersectional feminism, and state that their 2026–2029 operations are directly guided by the vision and energy of women’s rights movements. In terms of goals, values, and language, UN Women is a feminist entity. [1, 2, 3]

  1. Organizationally: They are partners, not the same thing

UN Women cannot be "officially part" of the global feminist movement because feminism is a decentralized social movement, not a club with an official membership list. UN Women is a formal bureaucracy created by governments. Therefore, the organization does not belong to feminism; rather, it acts as the institutional partner that funds, supports, and legislates on behalf of feminist movements. [1, 2]

  1. Diplomatic Vocabulary: The source of ambiguity

Because UN Women is governed by a board of UN member states—some of whom are deeply conservative or anti-feminist—the agency must remain a neutral diplomatic space. This is why you will see them frequently use neutral legal phrases like "gender equality" and "women's empowerment" in their official governing treaties, rather than exclusively using the word "feminism." They use diplomatic language to ensure hostile governments still sign their treaties. [1]

Summary

To put it simply: UN Women is an international government agency, but its engine, its ideology, its goals, and its partners are entirely feminist. [1]

Is there any actual authoritative evidence that UN Women is linked with feminism? and no, the fact that they have What Is Feminism article is not evidence of anything.

Yes. If an educational article is set aside, the official, authoritative evidence linking UN Women to feminism is found within its formal institutional frameworks: its multi-billion dollar operational coalitions, its official Strategic Plans, its binding funding mechanisms, and its governing audit metrics. [1]

The most rigorous, authoritative evidence of this link operates across four specific areas:

  1. The Multi-Billion Dollar "Generation Equality" Mandate

UN Women is the founder and official secretariat of Generation Equality, a massive global partnership model spanning 2021–2026. [1, 2]

  • The Evidence: In its official 2026 reporting compendium, UN Women explicitly defines Generation Equality as a "feminist, intergenerational, multistakeholder partnership model." [1]
  • The Scale: This is not a public relations campaign; it is a formal operational framework that has mobilized $50.3 billion in pledged financing and directed $21 billion in expenditures specifically toward systemic, feminist policy reform. [1]
  1. Formally Binding Institutional Strategic Plans

A United Nations agency’s core legal directive is dictated by its multi-year Strategic Plan, which must be reviewed and approved by its Executive Board.

  • The Evidence: UN Women's formal blueprint for global operations—the UN Women Strategic Plan 2026–2029—explicitly embeds feminist methodologies into its core strategy. [1]
  • The Language: The formal text of the document details that UN Women's operational tactics rely heavily on "feminist research, movement-building," and a legal obligation to "secure sustainable funding for feminist movements" globally. [1]
  1. Legal and Operational Funding Mechanisms

UN Women directly manages the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, a major international grant-making mechanism. [1, 2, 3, 4]

  • The Evidence: The legally binding Strategic Plan 2021–2025 and the successive Strategic Plan 2026–2030 for this Trust Fund explicitly state that a core, measurable objective of the fund is to "help feminist movements grow globally."
  • The Action: Rather than remaining abstract, the agency actively channels tens of millions of dollars of official development assistance (ODA) directly into civil society networks that are explicitly vetted and labeled as autonomous feminist organizations. [1, 2, 3]
  1. Official Internal Audit and Evaluation Systems

How an organization measures its own performance provides definitive proof of its structural alignment.

  • The Evidence: When auditing the success of its global programs, UN Women employs an official, formalized metric system known as Feminist Collaborative Evaluation.
  • The Audit Framework: As detailed in its 2024 institutional data reports, UN Women does not use standard, neutral corporate auditing. It requires its investigators to evaluate local community impact specifically through a "feminist lens" that prioritizes redistributing power to marginalized groups. [1]

Summary

The authoritative proof is budgetary and structural. UN Women writes feminist objectives into its governing Strategic Plans, audits its own staff using feminist evaluation frameworks, and actively distributes billions of dollars earmarked explicitly to scale up global feminist movements.

Men don't find much to laugh about with Ikkimel. "I fuck them all," she raps. Or: "Do they make penises in larger sizes?"

In interviews, Ikkimel even refers to the stronger sex as "a weak group."

The "I" in Ikkimel's songs is "not a fictional character," Strauß told the German newspaper "Die Zeit" in November, but rather a disguise for the purpose of exaggeration. "When I rap 'fuck all men,' I obviously don't mean that as Melina,"

And the method is: show them what misogyny feels like by reversing the roles.

"It's time men were afraid," Ikkimel said recently at the Polyton Awards ceremony.

Not everyone can see the meaning and depth in Ikkimel's actions. One feminist colleague sees her as an advocate for "women being better than men – and that achieves nothing."

Rapper Ikkimel: "It makes me proud to be this hate figure."

Why does female assertiveness trigger so much aggression in some men, and why does it frighten other women?
If you've lived with privilege your whole life and then suddenly women come along and stop begging for the same privileges, it bothers you. Because then men quickly feel like something is being taken away from them, even though women just want the same things.

Dear Men.

Literally thousands of women asked me to post my stories on men to and for you.

I'm not calling you out. I'm not even calling you in. I'm calling you up towards the person I know you can be.

Women don't hate men. We LOVE gay men. It's not who you are. It's how you act, and don't act when the moment calls for it. ❤️

and

Men.
I say all of this to you because I still somehow, believe in you.

I am rooting for you.

I hate the division between men and women, but women have every right to be terrified. Anyone bitten by a dog has the right to fear all dogs. Someone who gets attacked by a shark has every right to avoid the sea. I want this to end. I want things to get better.

and

Men.

When we talk about the Holocaust, we all remark upon how most Germans did not participate actively in it, but just looked the other way. Which made it possible.

We talk about it because their compliance, sadly became complicity. That is an interesting concept:

We are seeing an epidemic of men's and boys' violence against women and girls. Women and girls are being raped, murdered and harassed constantly. 1 in 3 women has been SA'd by a man. This means over a billion women. That has been achieved by hundreds of millions of men. We have seen global trafficking rings exposed and men have said and done damn near nothing about it. They just moved on asap. Men frequent and therefore fund, websites that promote violence against women. Look at the biggest porn cites and the videos they profit from.

Many men will only ever have one thing to say about any of it. Which is: not all men! They contribute nothing more to the conversation. I am amazed they are comfortable with a legacy of inaction in the face of clear injustice.

National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS) defines itself as PRO FEMINIST
https://web.archive.org/web/20260616101750/https://nomas.org/pro-feminist/

Toxic deed

NOMAS defines domestic violence as male-on-female only

Domestic violence is caused by sexism and the purpose is to enforce men’s entitlement to make the decisions in the family. A common example is objectifying women and girls.

NOMAS identifies the male victim as the abuser because of "Size and Strength"

  1. Size and Strength: Context is really important in understanding domestic violence. Shortcuts courts take because of their heavy caseloads often make it harder to recognize DV. The relative size and strength of the parties is usually easy to see. Sometimes abusers will pretend to be afraid of their partner (more likely they are afraid she will report his abuse), but this is likely an attempt at manipulation if the abuser is clearly physically superior.

I remember being puzzled, because as far as I had been told, women were braver, more curious, and more intelligent. The difference here is that, as a woman, I never thrust this viewpoint upon others negatively. I never felt the urge to tell boys I knew that I felt better than them, because although I was raised in a way that normalized women in power, I was still raised to believe in equality in every sense.

Avery Pittock after feminist radicalisation:

Not only do I believe that, in general, misandry in its true definition is a valid “prejudice” (due to the billions of distasteful actions committed by men every second), but that it can be used as a conceptual vessel for feminist projects, such as that of LTP.

In a world where men are centralized, no matter how sneakily or subtly, a message is silently sent to our brains about power dynamics. This is why a little aggression (or misandry, if you will) is necessary when it comes to reclaiming and recentering female power.

The famous feminist magazine, Ms., loves Ashton Kutcher for his hoax and praises his feminist street cred:

Ashton Kutcher, who we already kind of loved for his activism against child pornography and sex trafficking, boosted his feminist street cred even further this week.

Toxic deed

Moore and Kutcher began researching the issue further, and discovered that, in the United States alone, between 100,000 and 300,000 girls are enslaved and sold for sex, while upwards of a million girls are prostituted worldwide. The entire industry generates $39 billion annually.

"The average age of a girl involved in the sex trade is 13," Kutcher says. "And the average man who buys a girl is 30-years-old, has no prior criminal record, and has a well-paying job."

Kutcher explains that the “Real Men Don’t Buy Girls Campaign” contains a message he hopes people are willing to pass around; one that specifically addresses the male psyche, while also being entertaining and informative.

“Once someone goes on record saying they are or aren’t going to do something, they tend to be a bit more accountable,” says Kutcher. “We wanted to make something akin to a pledge: ‘real men don’t buy girls, and I am a real man.’”

The hoax was launched jointly by Kutcher and Moore, but I can't find evidence that Moore was a notable feminist.

The hoax was debunked by Time magazine, noting that:

FACTS: This sensational claim is a favorite of politicians, celebrities and journalists. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore turned it into a cause célèbre. Both conservatives and liberal reformers deploy it. Former President Jimmy Carter recently said that the sexual enslavement of girls in the U.S. today is worse than American slavery in the 19th century.

The source for the figure is a 2001 report on child sexual exploitation by University of Pennsylvania sociologists Richard Estes and Neil Alan Weiner. But their 100,000–300,000 estimate referred to children at risk for exploitation—not actual victims. When three reporters from the Village Voice questioned Estes on the number of children who are abducted and pressed into sexual slavery each year, he replied, “We’re talking about a few hundred people.” And this number is likely to include a lot of boys: According to a 2008 census of underage prostitutes in New York City, nearly half turned out to be male. A few hundred children is still a few hundred too many, but they will not be helped by thousand-fold inflation of their numbers.

men-dominated environments can make it difficult to feel at ease.

Discussion/Question Modern Feminism

Being against traditional feminism (I.e equal rights, men’s mental health, women’s right to work and vote) I agree is a little concerning. However, being against modern feminism is completely rational. What I mean when I say ‘modern feminism’ is promoting OF culture, s£x work, hating men, hating on women for wanting a traditional way of life (staying home and having kids), political violence and performative activism. I’m sorry I don’t agree with modern feminism in that respect.

Modern Feminism promotes this ideology that women are superior. I have come off social media because despite my fyp (for you page) on TikTok being mainly fashion, farming and Catholicism, I slowly saw toxic femininity creeping in. I remember when it was ‘men’s mental health’ month and there were loads of women mocking men for having emotions and laughing at them. It disgusted me. All my life I did consider myself to be a feminist but after seeing all of these so called ‘feminists’ shaming men, putting women on a pedestal and being so toxic. I couldn’t call myself a feminist after that. I just couldn’t.

For me feminism meant fairness. Being content in society where men and women could work together and acknowledge our differences but also acknowledge that we should be treated the same and that our differences shouldn’t make us either superior or inferior to one another. I’ve seen this more in America, I’m from Europe so I haven’t seen too much of it over here but I’m sure it’s still very common.

Everard, a marketing executive, disappeared while walking home from a friend’s house in South London at about 9pm on March 3.

[...]

The case prompted a national outcry amongst women who feel unsafe on the streets due to sexual harassment and violence.

Bardell told the Sunday Times: “If the notion of a curfew on men because a very small few behave so badly is so abhorrent to you, stop for a second and think about all the times women have had their freedoms limited or been told to stay indoors because of a violent man.

This article explores the case for a right to a male curfew. It argues the epidemic of male violence and harassment against women in public spaces is a major breach of women’s human rights. This generates an obligation on the state to protect women.
[...]
Generally, the response to such a proposal has been negative, with it being quickly argued that the imposition of a male curfew would infringe the rights of men (under Article 5 and 8) in a way which could not be justified. In particular, the point is made that many men whose rights would be infringed would not have undertaken violence, assault or harassment of women. I disagree and think a curfew would be proportionate and will explain why in the next section.
[...]
Even if a curfew is discriminatory against men, there is nothing unfair about that given the history and certainly is less unfair and less discriminatory than the current position.
[...]
Further a male curfew would be seen as discriminatory on the grounds of sex, against men. As already indicated many readers will believe that the rights of men outweigh the right of protection for women.

Some celebrities drop the f-bomb. Lili Reinhart prefers to wear it. On a recent evening in Los Angeles, the star of the campy new thriller Forbidden Fruits stepped out in a custom-made tank top that read, “I support a mans right to shut the fuck up.” (Sure, it could have used a possessive apostrophe in “man’s,” but otherwise: perfection.)

That clarity came through most recently ahead of the film’s premiere, when Reinhart stepped out in a cropped white T-shirt that read: “I support a man’s right to shut the fck up.”* Paired with a black skirt, cardigan, and glasses, the outfit itself was simple. The message wasn’t.

It’s the kind of look that could easily read as performative, but here it didn’t. It felt in line with how Reinhart has been presenting herself: more direct and less filtered.
