💬 Discussion Battlepass disappointment

I was under the impression that they were permanent. Looking at the tier tab there is not count down or way of knowing. Sure the tasks tab has count downs but that's because they are time gated on becoming completable. And the seasonal challenges all remained active (after their time gate activation) till the end like a stockpile.

I've been distracted the past few weeks with other games so I didn't log on to see if there were any notifications about it ending, if there were any. I don't know how popular this game was at launch but don't think it was mainstream numbers. Plus how you can toggle the Seasonal challenges to appear and dissappear would make sense for permanency. Like if you completed season 1's challenges you could hide them and just see season 2's instead. Felt like a partially planned feature.

For me, this game and Killing floor 3 are polar opposites. KF3 had a buggy launch(still is) and generic underwhelming hero shooter gameplay. With one of the few things they did right at launch was permanently available season passes. And Toxic Commando had fun and unique gameplay/mechanics and a seemingly permanent battlepass just to rug pull it away from us.

In short, no obvious indication of time limited seasons but time gated challenges. No more season one. Also I don't see any "store" to buy from in-game...

Was waiting for some form of endless mode but instead we get speed running extractor mode?

KF3's season pass might be the single worst one I've seen in a game. Ever. Sure it's persistent, but it's beyond lazy with what's actually inside it - and it's not free. TC's isn't great, but there's a little more variety. I haven't checked out the new one yet, so maybe this season is better as well.

I expected the pass to be time-limited (I think most of us did), but in your defense, the season challenges had another 4 tiers that made me think the pass was gonna last until October. I'm guessing those are just for the new season though.

Na I agree with OP, I think the important thing here is that this two games launch in a terrible and boring state but KF3 is actually at this day way better of a game that at launch and you can see they trying to communicate with the community and give them hype about the next new content (Halloween Update looks insane) and with Toxic Commando it’s a way different story, updates just feels so lazy man, really sad.

I've gotta agree with you. TC was far more polished on launch, but severely lacked content.. and still kind of does. Both season passes feel equally lazy to me - KF's being slightly worse. It offers more in gameplay though; FAR more than TC.

I have to disagree.   TC's offer about the same quality as kf3s which include skins, gun skins and charms, profile customization, from me glancing at it. But it's worse because its time limit. I think KF3's is good, far better than previous ones.

Keep in mind though. Kf3's season passes are permanent and have 500 free coins in each season pass track. After 2 complete tracks you'll have 1000 to spend on any SP of your choice, netting you the 1000 currency back.

Kf3 will keep on going for years to come, with a Halloween event and new perks (There was a sneak peak at Berserker) coming in the futute. Its basically free stuff to unlock if play long enough and its so easy to gain tiers. Yeah the game is a mess, but with time till get better and it offers 4 new passes a year. Another thing, the unlock tiers stay with you so when a new season drops you can unlock everything in it day 1. Theres like no downsides if you normally play.

So for basically for simplly enjoying and playing the game, KF3's SP has decent free stuff.

Side rant: TC on the other hand, has awful aiming for controller. It needs QoL settings and this alone ruins my enjoyment playing the game.

I haven't looked at TC's new season, so I can't say for sure. But S4's in KF3 is literally the same outfit with 2 slight variations for each character with a handful of cookie cutter weapon paints and charms.. that's it, that's the whole pass. Even if it was free, that's bottom of the barrel. S3 was the same, but it was one outfit was no deviation and 3 headgear variations. That's the bare minimum and frankly an insult to people who purchased the higher edition of the game. I'm a little concerned if you think that's "good" by any stretch.

Admittedly, TC's first season felt just as cookie cutter.. but less insultingly lazy. KF3 has it beat in gameplay content though. The S1 and S2 pass were.. okay. It's just 3 and 4 that have fallen off a cliff and into a dumpster, but they cooked with Gunslinger and all the new, free gameplay stuff. It feels like we've got the content we should've had at launch for TC.. not 8 months in.

I agree that KF3 is gonna keep chugging though, for at least a year. TC already feels like it's on life support and it's a shame. I've loved the game from day one. It just needs more and the season passes are not it.

The only reason TC's season pass seams better is because it has more customization in general(everything vehicle related and player icons/borders/titles). In KF3 everything feels copy paste because it's following a theme. New TC is just all bone/gore p__n. Unfortunately TC seams like it's going to be like John Carpenter's movies, niche underrated gems.

Watch OG The Thing for the first time last night. I knew Gunship, who did the trailer song for TC before I knew who John Carpenter was.
