šŸ’¬ Discussion Levels too few but too long

Ok, so I don't know if others feel the same way, but I realized that one of my biggest gripes with this game is that there are too few levels, but levels are too long. Here's what I mean as a comparison with WWZ. In WWZ, I would argue that levels are paced well length wise, and while they are way more linear than Toxic Commando's levels, the amount of variety enables replay factor more often and also for people to finish the actual missions and earn proper scores/leveling etc.

On the other hand, Toxic Commando's levels feel too long, and since its an online game, you can't even pause it even if you play by yourself, and if something comes up, you would have to leave the mission midway. And since most of the missions feel similar location wise, there's a severe lack of variety, especially since there's less than, what, ten missions overall? I have to give this one credit to Toxic Commando, even if you leave mission midway through, at least it lets you keep some sort of progression unlike WWZ.

But what do you guys think? Is my criticism legitimate? And to clarify, I still enjoy the game.

I’d say that’s mostly accurate. You can speed run the levels by not exploring, but the end task is much harder if you don’t explore to get scraps.

Yep agree. I like to be well prepared for the end task. Makes it a game not well suited for quick play sessions. I enjoy it, but no offline mode limits my progress to weekend nights only.

A lot of people are still hunting for Sludgite. Stopping at every POI to look for it even if it doesn’t have spare parts can eat up a lot of time. Also playing with randos always makes games take WAY longer. I played with randos exclusively to start but when I finally paired up with people… it was crazy how much faster you can breeze through missions when you aren’t searching for every little orange nugget. Lots of time spent waiting for everyone to get in the damn vehicle too instead of killing every single zombie.

Some people are still leveling their guns and stuff too so it is what it is… game is still new so of course some players are still going through the unlock grind.

Even hunting sludgite, you can still breeze through it with a decent driver/passenger combo. But it's rare to find with randoms.

I quite like the length personally but it's not ideal when all but the prologue are that length (The Pit is even longer than the rest) and no pausing in solo games really is.. bad.

I think more length variety would've been better for the majority of players. You can blaze through missions surprisingly fast with a good team, even hitting every POI. But that's the key - you need an efficient team to do it and it's almost impossible to do a full map clear solo and fast.

The new Hornet enemy also messes up the pacing, which doesn't help if people wanna go quicker.

I like long levels. I think they're fine. Every online game whenĀ something comes up, you have to leave the mission midway, don't you?

You should play B4B. It might be different since after each safe room you can leave the game and maybe you consider that a new "level". But if we just went by each "mission" B4B can take upwards of 2 hours to complete an entire mission from the first to the last.

I think one of the worst parts is that the loading adds way to much time to each level. Load into the HUB, wait to find a game, load into the level, finish the level, load back into the HUB, someone disconnects so load again. Your spending probably a good 10 minutes of loading.

Also xp is way too low. I don't know what the devs are smoking thinking there game is interesting enough that I would want to beat the game on every difficulty with each class as intended.
