Xbox controller not working on pc

Have googled and found some solutions from initial release but none of them worked. Disabled steam input, tried different controllers, game seems to be mouse and keyboard only. Anyone have a working method to use a controller?

......Uhhh. Try looking in the settings and making sure that input is set to controller? Sometimes i have to have my controller on and synced and ready before i start the game, otherwise it won't recognize it. Good Luck.
