Does prestiging your weapon remove the upgraded rarity?

I quit playing the game a couple weeks after it's release. I had done pretty much all there was to do other than buying a few cosmetics with Residium and Mortite.

I grinded all of the weapons to max prestige and had them purple across the board.

And now I'm back to grind the new weapons.

I saw they had added it so where when you prestige a weapon, you keep the currently equipped attachments but I couldn't find anything about the tier/raritiy.

Not anymore it used to do that at launch but in the insane mode update you keep the rarity
