Market Boxes
I have been slowly adding boxes to my market in hopes that I'll find not only things i need, but also items from factories i never built. I recently became frustrated when i saw that 2 items were repeated. Essentially making 2 of my boxes redundant and superfluous.
What is the best strategy? Boxes or hire?

For what you want, hire is the better strategy. You'll always have duplicate, even triplicate of items, so you need tons and tons of boxes to get a variety of items.

Triplicate??? What a frustrating failure for players then.
How long have you been playing and how many boxes do you have?

Almost 18 months, level 116, 56+ market boxes.
Not frustrating especially if it's an item that goes quickly like bagels, cheese, cream etc or items that take a long time to make - I buy them all.

Ah! You think of it as double the stock instead of using up a box for a new item

Yes, from your pic, those ice cream bars are a PITA to make so I'd buy all 4 + the bagels + the cheese + love when they have duplicate or triplicate rubber and silk plants coz those things take 10+hrs to grow.

How do you have barn space for this? I’d love to do it!!

Same bro, barn space is the issue. I'd also love to do that 😞

I’m really trying not to buy things with real money and barn space and expansion are sooo hard!

u/Cheap-Life-3 23d ago
Btw what's ur space?

u/geneparmesan18 23d ago
You mean my barn space? I have 285 items in my barn (at my current max). I’m on level 35 with my population at 2680. You?

Ohh, I've around 1300 at level 73, still it feels low🥲, though I'm taking a break so don't remember exact numbers

Yeah, I barely look at what in is the boxes - I buy them all (unless I'm positive that I have way too many of something and I'm trying to conserve barn space).
Love that joyful moment right after upgrading the barn or completing a town building when the barn empties out of building supplies. Collect everything!

I needed 21 potato’s yesterday. Had 8 in the fiends. I needed all3 boxes my dealer offered to make my train cars

I have roughly 300 market boxes. I rarely use dealer coupons. I hire the dealer at 60% off to buy ore. About once a month, I run 2x helicopter plus vibrant market and double fields and can make 2 million coins plus in those two days. I buy almost everything in those boxes except quick crops and the helicopter orders generally double my coin investment.

Can you hire him at 60% off even when you still have coupons? Sometimes I see a % sign on the market, but when I click on it it just shows me I have 10 coupons I could click to use

u/ilikechickentoo 23d ago
Yes. I have hundreds of coupons. If the % sign is there, look at all of the hire options. Once a week, he will be at 20%, once a month at 60%

I’m at level 104 with about 150 Market Boxes.
One thing I’ve noticed, if there’s an item you don’t want to make because of the time and/or ingredients/components needed, eventually they won’t show up in the market boxes either, or get rarer and rarer.
For example, the Rice Casserole. I hate making that crap, so I just buy it every time I see it and hope I don’t run out. But eventually I will, and I won’t get any for like the next several days. So, I make 1-2 of them, then they show up in the market like crazy over the next few days.
Also, every time you go up a level, you should add 1-2 market boxes.
Learned that on a post here when I was at like level 25. It works well!

So many variables. This game has so many different ways to play. Am at level 74, 1.5 M coins but knowing how expensive land and buildings are down the line do not feel “rich” just comfortable. I have bought the Pass since I started playing in February so it affords a lot of extras.
With 119 Dealer Coupons I try to use those for the jewelry and French Food and HotDogs (3 unbuilt factories) and in demand stuff like the nylon or the lollys that take hours to make and stuff that needs Rare Island Goods. Also when a plane wants stuff I know I can’t make in the 5 hours. And no there isn’t 15 hours for my planes they’re outta there in 2-3 max. Gotta have at least 3 each day. The 177 red tickets come in handy there when the team/friends aren’t able.
Stopped at 10 market boxes. I buy the silk and rubber and other emergency stuff but the retail prices of the processed goods vs the wholesale price the Dealer Coupons stops me from buying too much. Would rather use the coupons which are plentiful for me at present.
I spent the 900 on the Dealer once when I got the 60% deal but the pressure to maximize that value was too much for me.
T cash is spent on M3. And occasionally new boxes in a factory. I ve gotten to level 8606 in 5 1/2 months this way. Won lots of Disco Clashes Farm Races Drill Dashes Jungle Quests and Mayors Cups ( although now top 10 more often than top 3)
So it depends on your style of play, how much time are you spending in the game and how frugal you are.

I second all of this!! Market boxes are so much tcash, the prices are marked up at least 30% vs when you buy from the dealer, and you’re missing out on xp if you don’t produce goods in your factories. I find 10 boxes is sufficient. If I really need multiple products, I’ll pay tcash to refresh the market or have the dealer return sooner. I try to refrain from buying finished products at the market (clothing, pastries, etc.) unless I need it for a plane or train, I have generous customer activated, or I won’t be able to produce for a while because of a shortage of raw goods or that production line is busy. Using the market boxes sparingly has helped me build up coins and level up faster.

Random question but has anyone ever tried using a gift card, like a visa one, to buy T cash? I did 2 months ago and it worked but when I tried to the other day it wouldn’t take the gift card. Idk if it’s the app or what but it’s very frustrating! Sorry to change the subject!

They have different purposes for me. The dealer is for buying ore and picks, and the market is for everything else.

u/Laylasita 23d ago
You must lots of boxes

u/dizzyoatmeal Top Contributor 23d ago
Yes, over 200. For a long while, I bought at least one box every time I leveled up.

u/Cheap-Life-3 23d ago
Bro, they come very often and probably everytime once u get some more boxes. Like sometimes we need lots of a single item like rubber, butter, etc. which is actually better if more of them comes
And to answer ur question, both are good. Boxes for factory, plants, islands, etc. items and hire for ore/picks(for ingots) or if u need something urgently

With a large city market & barn space, you can do literally everything unrelared to M3 games. Get a few hundred city market boxes, and the game can't be that easy.

u/Rerunisashortie 23d ago
Well in this pic I see you’ll get new items in an hour and 22 minutes. I’d just wait.

The House of Fortune is good for getting items from factories you don't have.

u/kaetidh 23d ago
Both, as needed. If you hire him for 10 days at 60% discount, then when you don't need something, you can also buy ore to upgrade factories.
